A label printer for printing labels can typically have a pressure roller and a corresponding print head, which print head can have a support, a spring base plate, and a spring disposed between the support and the spring base plate to bias the print head into engagement with the pressure roller. The spring base plate can be rotationally mounted on a bearing shaft which is preferably parallel to the pressure roller, and the free end of the bearing shaft can be flattened over a portion of its length to form two parallel key surfaces for engaging with a locking element that adjusts the biasing force of the spring by engaging and positioning the spring base plate. The locking element has a keyhole-like opening, with a circular portion having a diameter which is approximately equal to the diameter of the free end of the bearing shaft, and a narrow portion having a width approximately equal to the distance between the key surfaces of the bearing shaft to thereby non-rotationally fix the locking element to the bearing shaft.

An apparatus for printing labels can have a printing area, a deflector area designed as a shaft or an edge located behind the printing area in the transport direction of the labels, around which deflector the carrier strip can be guided, and where the labels, on account of their stiffness, can be detached from the carrier strip, while the adhesive glue remains on the underside of the label. In addition, the printing apparatus can also have a supporting apparatus with a contact area near the output opening for the labels, against which supporting area the labels, output via the output opening, come into contact with their underside. The contact area of the support apparatus can preferably be formed by the exposed surfaces of balls mounted so that they can rotate in at least one retaining strip, so that during the label output, the labels preferably do not stick to the support apparatus, as such sticking would significantly interfere with the output of the labels.

Apparatus for printing labels

A thermal printing head (10) is described which comprises a supporting frame (12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22) and a thermal printing plate (28). Several individually triggerable heating elements are provided along a line on the front side of the thermal printing plate (28). The thermal printing plte (28) is held in frictional contact with a counter-pressure roll (26) rotatably mounted in the supporting frame. The line of heating elements contacts the counter-pressure roll along a paraxial generating line. At least one locking hook (38, 40) being in engagement with a pin fixed on the supporting frame is provided on the thermal printing plate (28) to be spaced apart from the line of heating elements. At least one pressure spring (54, 56) is provided in the region situated between the at least one locking hook (38, 40) and the line of heating elements between a stop (62, 64) being in fixed connection with the supporting frame and the rear side of the thermal printing plate (28). The at least one pressure spring (54, 56 ) is secured on the thermal printing plate (28) by means of a retaining means (50, 52, 48).

Thermal printing head

A thermal printing head (10) having a housing (12, 14, 16) is described wherein a support (42) carrying a thermal printing plate (26) is mounted to be pivotable about an axis (28) mounted on both of its ends. The thermal printing plate (26) comprises several selectively triggerable heating elements being arranged in a line (36). In the housing (12, 14, 16), a counter-pressure roll (22) is mounted to be rotatable about an axis (20) with respect to which the line (36) heating elements of the thermal printing plate (26) is held in frictional contact along a paraxial generating line. The mounting axis (28) of the support (42) extends to be parallel with respect to the axis of the counter-pressure roll (20) and to be spaced apart from this axis (20). One end of the axis (28) of the support (42) is mounted in the housing (12, 14, 16) to be adjustable in perpendicular direction with respect to the plane formed by the axis (28) and the line (36) of the heating elements.

Thermal head mounting/positioning assembly

A mandrel for coiling tape-shaped material includes a core (10) which is adapted to be connected at one end to a drive (36). Disposed on the core (10) is a sleeve (44) having a length which corresponds to the length of the core (10) and comprising at least one longitudinal slot (46 to 56), the sleeve being displaceable in axial direction but secured against rotation relatively to the core (10).

A printing mechanism is described comprising a plurality of type carriers (12, 34) which on their outer peripheral face carry in one region printing types and in another region indicator types (44). The printing types can be brought into a printing position by turning the type carriers (12, 34). A setting means (32, 20, 24) including an actuating knob (32) can be brought into a drive connection with each of the type carriers (12, 34) for rotation thereof. Stop means (100, 102, 104, 106, 110) limit the turning travel of the type carriers (12, 34). Detent elements (96) hold the actuating knob against rotation relative to the type carrier (12, 34) which is in drive connection with the setting means (32, 20, 24), with a detent moment governed by the spring hardness of the detent elements. The spring hardness and thus the detent moment are determined so that when a moment is applied greater than the detent moment, rotation is permitted between the actuation knob and the type carrier, and when a moment is applied, there is no relative rotation between the actuation knob and the type carrier, and the type carrier is turned.

An application roller (212) for a labelling device for applying self-adhesive labels comprises a cylindrical inner sleeve (211). It further comprises a cylindrical outer sleeve (212) whose internal diameter is greater than the external diameter of the inner sleeve (211). An intermediate sleeve (213) disposed between the inner sleeve (211) and the outer sleeve (212) with radial spacing between said two sleeves is connected with one end to the inner sleeve (211) and with the other end to the outer sleeve (212).

Application roller for a labelling device

The invention concerns a label dispenser to dispense and deposit stick-on labels, whereby in each operational cycle one stick-on label is moved into a dispensing position below a compression roller with a contoured surface and a sleeve by means of which the compression roller is rotatably supported on a fixed shaft. The compression roller comprises individually designed cross-sectionally contoured rings which rest through spring elements mounted to their interiors on the sleeve.

A labeling device is described by means of which adhesive labels can be printed, dispensed, and applied on an article. During each operating cycle an adhesive label is printed in the device and transported into a dispensing position below an applicator roll which is mounted for rotation on an elastically deformable axle. In order to render the applicator roll yieldable to a degree desirable to make it conform to the surface to be provided with an adhesive label, the applicator roll is supported on the axle in a central region of its longitudinal extension, while on either side of said central region there follow axle bore regions extending up to the end faces of the applicator roll in which the latter surrounds the axle with a clearance.

Labeling device

Stepped-down counting mechanism with number wheels drawn on a locking shaft, with a control disc and with a slotted link. The number wheels and the control disc are moved by a ratchet shaft which is located in the interior of the locking shaft and to which are articulated pawls each acting on one pair of wheels. The switching mode with single or multiple stepping-down can be selected by adjusting the slotted link. The control disc is moved by means of an idle-stroke pawl subjected to the action of the slotted link and, independently thereof, by means of an advancing pawl acting between the control disc and the units wheel.

Stepped-down mechanical counting mechanism

A counting or printing mechanism for consecutive counting or numbering, in which a number or printing wheel is provided for each numerical place and the number or printing wheels are mounted on a common shaft. The number or printing wheels are turned by advancing elements which are connected loosely but so as to transmit force and designed to deflect one another. These advancing elements may, for example, be pawls disposed on an inner ring or coupling discs disposed on a side surface of the number or printing wheels.
