A dressing includes a backing layer, an adhesive skin contact layer, and a first release liner. The adhesive skin contact layer has a central portion and an edge portion surrounding the central portion. The first release liner is configured to be releasably attached to at least the central portion of the adhesive skin contact layer. The dressing further includes a second release liner arranged between the first release liner and at least part of the edge portion of the adhesive skin contact layer.

A medical dressing is described that includes: a porous layer having a first side and a second side; a first coating extending along at least a portion of the surface area of said first side of said porous layer; a second coating extending along said first side of said porous layer, said second coating comprising a pattern of through openings; wherein said first coating extends along at least those portions of the surface area of said first side of said porous layer that coincide with the through openings of said second coating and wherein said first surface of said second coating extends in a plane (B) that is farther away, in the vertical direction, from the first side of said porous layer, than the corresponding plane (A) defined by the first surface of said first coating.

Disclosed is a canister for a mobile negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) device, specifically adapted for ensuring prolonged uninterrupted use of the NPWT device. Described is a process for introducing perforations in a laminate that comprises a silicone gel. The process includes the following steps: bringing an array of perforating elements in contact with a deformable layer of a laminate that at least includes a substrate layer, a layer comprising a silicone gel and a deformable layer, wherein said deformable layer covers said layer including the silicone gel; applying ultrasonic energy to said laminate in order to simultaneously introduce a plurality of perforations into said laminate, while providing deformed portions in said deformable layer, wherein said deformed portions penetrate into the plurality of perforations in said laminate; after having introduced said plurality of perforations into said laminate, keeping said deformable layer in contact with said layer including the silicone gel, such that said deformed portions remain penetrating into said plurality of perforations, for at least 12 hours.

Process for introducing perforations into laminates comprising silicone gels

Described is a ultrasonic welding of laminates, more particular to the use of ultrasonic energy to create stable perforations in a laminate, in particular a laminate that includes a silicone gel. Specifically, a perforation element is provided, that is optionally part of array of perforation elements, which perforation element or array of perforation elements is advantageously used in an ultrasonic welding device and in a process for continuously introducing perforations into a laminate.

A method for manufacturing a wound dressing having a substrate, and a wound dressing manufactured by such a method are described. The method has a step of providing a sacrificial layer of material to be perforated by means of a hot pin perforator, in order to remove any molten residues on the heated pins of the hot pin perforator, before the same pins are used to make holes in the substrate. The presented method is cost effective, robust and reduces the risk of contaminating substances being embedded in the substrate during the hole making process.

The present invention relates to a suction device. The suction device comprises an attachment portion adapted to be attached to a wound cover member. The suction device comprises a fluid inlet which is at least partially circumscribed by the attachment portion. The suction device also comprises a fluid outlet. The suction device further comprising a connection portion adapted to, at least during one operation condition of the suction device, provide a fluid communication between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet. The connection portion comprises an inspection portion that is transparent to thereby facilitate the positioning of the suction device relative to the wound cover member.

This relates to a wound therapy device, including an outer part and an inner part facing surface provided with an inner part facing opening, and a first connection channel to establish fluid communication between the inner part facing opening and a connector opening adapted to be connected to an external device. The wound therapy device can also be a part of a wound therapy arrangement, which can further include, a wound filler, an external device, a wound cover film, and tubing connections. A method is provided to attach a grip tab along an edge of a carrier layer of a film dressing web, which includes a film layer coated with adhesive on a first side and a carrier layer releasably attached to the film layer on an opposed second side. The method includes choosing a material for the carrier layer that is heat welding incompatible with the film layer, feeding the web in a machine direction, applying a first strip of a material that is heat welding compatible with the carrier layer along part of an edge portion of the web extending parallel to the machine direction, and affixing the first strip to the carrier layer while simultaneously cutting away an outermost part of the web with the first strip applied thereto by passing the web through an ultrasonic welding device.
