The present disclosure relates to a method, apparatus and system for determining reliability information for a network component () of a telecommunications network. The disclosed method comprises: obtaining () a plurality of samples of an operating parameter of the network component () acquired over a period of time; determining () a value of an acceleration factor based on the plurality of samples, the acceleration factor corresponding to an effect of the operating parameter over time on the network component (); and determining () the reliability information based on the determined value of the acceleration factor.

Determining reliability information for a network component

A pluggable synchronization module comprises an antenna input, a Global Navigation Satellite System receiver, an electrical interface and processing circuitry. The Global Navigation Satellite System receiver is operative to receive satellite-transmitted signals comprising positioning-related information over the antenna input. The Global Navigation Satellite System receiver is further operative to determine a time reference from received positioning-related information and to provide a time reference signal according to the determined time reference. The electrical interface supports communication with the pluggable synchronization module. The electrical interface is a form-factor pluggable interface. The processing circuitry is connected to the Global Navigation Satellite System receiver and to the electrical interface. The processing circuitry is operative to deduce synchronization information from the time reference signal and to transmit the deduced synchronization information over the electrical interface.

An apparatus including a socket forming at least one compartment together with a printed circuit board assembly. The compartment including a first side wall, a second side wall, a ceiling, and an opening for receiving one pluggable transceiver, such that when the pluggable transceiver is inserted into the opening, a transceiver contact of the pluggable transceiver is connected to a respective board contact of the printed circuit board assembly. A clamping means is arranged along at least one surface of: the first side wall, the second side wall and the ceiling, to exert a pressure on the pluggable transceiver towards a surface that is opposed the surface on which the clamping means is arranged. The opposed being one of: the second side wall, the first side wall, and the printed circuit board assembly, when the pluggable transceiver is inserted into the opening.

A method of allocating tasks in a node of a telecommunication network, wherein the node comprises a main processing unit which is configured to process tasks in association with one or more of a plurality of peripheral processing units, the peripheral processing units arranged in a hierarchical tree topology comprising one or more branches at one or more hierarchical levels. The method comprises the steps of: receiving a request to process a task; determining a temperature status of branches in the hierarchical tree topology, wherein the temperature status of a branch is related to the temperature of a processing unit coupled to the branch; and allocating the task to one or more processing units, based on the temperature status of the branches in the hierarchical tree topology.

The present invention refers to a gateway (MGW) in a telecommunication system (TS) enabling connections to be effectively established between various networks (N, N, N) in the telecommunication system. The gateway comprises resources from different nodes (RNC, MSC, IP, VX) of the various networks. Servers (S-S) from the networks are connected to the gateway (MGW) and co-utilize the resources, which contributes to the effective utilization of the resources. This effective utilization of the resources is supported by the resources being divided into resource groups. Specific ones of these resource groups can be utilized by solely each one of the servers. Consequently, important services such as alarm services and security services can always reach the necessary resources in the gateway. Other resource groups can be co-utilized by only a small number of the servers while additional resource groups may be co-utilized by all of the servers (S-). By division into the resource groups the resources of the nodes (RNC, MSC, IP, VX) are co-utilized without the establishing of specific significant connections having to be rejected.

Telesystem with coupling device and a method in connection therewith

The present invention relates to a coupling node (MG) for coupling of communications in a telecommunication system, comprising networks (NN) with different signal formats. The coupling node has switching and trunking functions (CPCP) corresponding to the signal formats, and telefunctions, e.g. coders/decoders (F) and echo cancellers (F), which the node can couple into a communication by means of a selector (PS). The functions are supported by printed board assemblies (CB&#x2013;CB) in magazines (SR), and the printed board assemblies have signal processors (DSP&#x2013;DSP) with access points (SAP&#x2013;SAP). The selector hunts one of the signal processors for handling one of the functions. If the processor has sufficiently free memory space in its data store and in its instruction memory and sufficient processor capacity, this processor is selected. Otherwise a new processor is hunted which is investigated in the same way.

Method and device in a coupling node for a telecommunication system

A media stream system () processes plural media streams (), e.g., speech streams or speech channels. The system comprises plural processors (), each of which execute one or more plural types of media stream processing functions (). A switch function () routes packets of the plural media streams to a sequence of the plural processors whereby the plural types of media stream processing functions are sequentially performed relative to the packets. A packet size for the packets is chosen to minimize overhead load on at least one of the plural processors without causing undue delay for a packet awaiting processing by the at least one of the plural processors. In an example non-limiting implementation, the packet size for a packet of media information is chosen to be 160 octets, consecutive packets of a same media stream being separated by a packet repetition interval which is 20 milliseconds.

Method and apparatus for processing data in a multi-processor environment are provided. An application chain is built including at least one application to be performed on the data. The data is received, and program information, e.g., a pointer, is added to the data for identifying a current application in the application chain to be performed on the data. The data is forwarded to an available processor in the multi-processor environment and is processed using the current application identified by the added program information. The processed data is updated with new program information identifying a next application in the application chain to be performed, if any. The processed data is forwarded to an available processor, processed, and updated repeated times until the data is processed by all applications in the application chain.

A gateway (MG ) interconnects telecom networks (N ,N ) of different types with different signal formats (ATM,IP). A first control unit (CC ), connected (C ) to a server, controls connection set up. A second control unit (RC ) provides telecom functions (F -F ), such as speech coder/decoder or echo extinguisher, to the connection. A third control unit (BC ) establishes connections and sets up switch functions (CP -CP ) corresponding to the different signal formats (ATM,IP). A signal format converter (CP ) converts to/from a common signal format (COM ) that the telecom functions uses. A speech request goes via the server to the first control unit (CC ), which requests telecom function (F ) by the second control unit (RC ). This returns the address (ADR ) of the telecom function to the first control unit (CC ) which sends the function address (ADR ) and the network address (ADR ) of the connection to the third control unit (BC ). This interconnects the corresponding switch function (CP ) and the telecom function (F ) after conversion to the common signal format (COM ) in the signal format converter (CP ). The first control unit (CC ) thereafter requests connection to the next node from the third control unit (BC ), which establishes and indicates the connection (C ) to the first control unit (CC ). This requests setting up of a corresponding switch function (CP ) by the third control unit (BC ), which connects together the switch function with the telecom function (F ) after reconversion of the signal format. The functions (F -F ;CP -CP ) are hardware or software. They can easily be supplemented for new network types or new telecom services.

A time slot aligner ( ) determines delay (in terms of frames) of time slots of a set of frames received on Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy (PHD) transmission network. In accordance with the time slot frame/delay determination technique of the invention, the time slot aligner finds an initial header of an ATM cell by searching five consecutive time slots in nearby frames of the set of frames. Once the initial header is found, a frame/delay value is determined for each time slot comprising the header. The frame/delay values for selected time slots of the header are then used to form a window which is used for searching for the next header. Searching for a next header for a next ATM cell involves sliding the window to other frames of the set of frames and searching for a value in a successive time slot which will form a HEC byte for a header framed by the sliding window. When a next header is located, a frame/delay determination has to be made only for the last time slot of the header, e.g., the time slot which formed the HEC byte. A new window is then formed using the frame/delay pattern from the most-recently acquired header, and that new window slid to find yet another header. Header location, time slot frame/delay determination, and formation of a new window continue until a frame/delay determination is made for all time slots of the set of frames.
