There is provided a method and a system for authorizing a user device to send a request to a vehicle in order to prevent a physical layer relay attack. The system comprises a vehicle comprising an acoustic transducer and an RF transceiver and a user device comprising an acoustic transducer and an RF transceiver. The method relates to a signaling scheme using a combination of acoustic and RF signals for preventing a successful physical layer relay attack.

A method performed by a vehicle system for handling parameters associated with surroundings of a vehicle. The vehicle system obtains information indicating a first parameter associated with the surroundings of the vehicle and sensed by at least one low power sensor. The low power sensor is associated with the vehicle. The vehicle system triggers startup of at least one high power sensor when the first parameter has fulfilled a criteria. The high power sensor consumes a larger amount of power than the low power sensor, and the high power sensor is associated with the vehicle or another vehicle. Methods of throttling video streaming downloads in burst transmissions to a mobile device are driven by the network client. By knowing various input parameters such as the media bitrate, the current (average) network link bitrate, transceiver state timeout characteristics (e.g., inactivity timers), and power consumption information for various mobile device operating states, the network client can decide the proportion of each repeating burst interval duration to spend in an idle state. From a control parameter and the other input parameters, it can calculate the amount of media data it then needs to request in each burst transmission. Other calculations further inform this decision, such as the relative average power consumption (as compared to staying at a high activity state continuously).

Methods and apparatus for securely streaming multimedia packets, such as RTP packets, are disclosed, in which the payloads of the packets are shuffled. This reordering is performed using a shuffling function that depends on sequence numbers associated with each of the packets, a pre-determined group size N, and a pre-determined initialization value; in some embodiments this shuffling function comprises a cryptographic hashing function or other one-way function. A receiving device may reverse the shuffling, using a similar shuffling function, if the pre-determined group size N and the pre-determined initialization value are known.

Disclosed is a method and a system for rendering content on external devices securely. The method comprises setting up a communication channel between a proxy rendering server of a mobile device and an external rendering server of an external device, authenticating at least the external rendering server and upon successful authentication transferring a key from the proxy rendering server to the external rendering server, transferring the content encrypted with the transferred key from the proxy rendering server to the external rendering server for rendering the content, wherein the rendering of the content is performed in one of two modes, either in a preprocessing mode or in a non-preprocessing mode, and wherein a DRM agent is only present in the mobile device.

Digital rights management is described involving a device, a content issuer, and a rights issuer. A content encryption key (CEK) is encrypted using a public key associated with the device to produce an encrypted CEK. The encrypted CEK is encrypted using an issuer encryption key to produce a twice encrypted CEK. The twice encrypted CEK is encrypted using the public key to produce a ciphertext included in a rights object. The rights object is available to the device for decrypting digital content associated with the content issuer. The device can then decrypt the rights object ciphertext using its private key to produce a decrypted rights object ciphertext and decrypt the decrypted rights object ciphertext using an issuer decryption key received from the content issuer to produce an encrypted CEK. The encrypted CEK is decrypted using the private key to obtain the CEK, which is then available for decrypting digital content.
