Technologies for streaming device role reversal include a source computing device and a destination computing device coupled via a communication channel. The source computing device and destination computing device are each configured to support role reversal. In other words, the source computing device and the destination computing device are each capable of switching between receiving and transmitting digital media content over the established communication channel. The source computing device is configured to initiate the role reversal, pause transmit functionality of the source computing device, and enable receive functionality of the source computing device. The destination computing device is configured to receive a role reversal indication from the source computing device, locally process the content, transmit a content stream to the source computing device, and display the content stream on an output device of the source computing device. Technologies for streaming device role reversal

Systems, apparatuses, and methods may provide for multi-session encoding to optimize multiple encoding sessions on Wi-Fi display (WFD) source devices when the WFD source devices are connected to multiple sink devices. The multiple encoding sessions may be optimized with encoding hints that are generated by a compositor and transmitted to a pre-encoding checking device. The encoding session that has the highest encoding resolution is subjected to hierarchical motion estimation (HME) processing, and the encoding sessions that have lower resolutions are optimized based on a motion vector prediction hint generated by the encoding session that has the highest encoding resolution and a scaling factor.

Technologies for managing event notifications on an interface of a display of a destination computing device include a plurality of source computing devices wirelessly coupled to the destination computing device via digital content communication channels usable to receive digital content streams from each of the source computing devices and event communication channels usable to receive one or more event notifications from one or more of the source computing devices. The destination computing device is configured to output the received event notifications to an interface of the display to a user, as well as any graphical user interface (GUI) control elements associated with actionable responses of the received event notifications. The destination computing device is further configured to detect selection of the GUI control elements and initiate a response/action associated with a selected GUI control element. Technologies for wireless transmission of digital media include a wireless retransmission hub configured to receive an input digital media stream from a source computing device. The wireless retransmission hub is further configured to transmit a list of available destination computing devices to the source computing device, receive a list of selected destination computing devices from the source computing device, and map each destination computing devices of the list of selected destination computing devices to the source computing device. The wireless retransmission hub is further configured to transmit an output digital media stream to each of the selected destination computing devices of the list of selected destination computing devices, wherein the output digital media stream includes the digital media of the input digital media stream.
