A cavity resonator having temperature compensation which comprises a pot and a cover, which together enclose a cavity resonance volume. The pot comprises a first material, which has a first temperature expansion coefficient and the cover comprises a second material, which has a second temperature expansion coefficient. The second temperature expansion coefficient is greater than the first temperature expansion coefficient, and an expansion of the pot and a deformation of the cover results upon a temperature increase, which each independently and also together cause an enlargement of the cavity resonance volume. Simultaneously, the resonance frequency remains essentially constant.

The invention relates to an automatically quenching surge arrester arrangement with a surge arrester, which, on exceeding a given first voltage, transforms from a non-conducting into a conducting state and returns to the non-conducting state only when a much smaller second voltage is dropped below and with a switch mechanism reacting to current flow through the surge arrester, interrupting the current flow through the surge arrester and then automatically returning to the rest condition thereof. A simple, robust and compact assembly suitable for HF applications for such a surge arrester arrangement is achieved, whereby the switch mechanism reacts reversibly to the heat generated in the surge arrester by the current flow.

Disclosed is a method for removably connecting two groups of individual, parallel fibers that are delimited by end faces that are perpendicular to the fiber axis. The two groups of fibers are moved towards each other in an axial direction until each of the fibers abuts against the end face of the assigned fiber from the other group. The fibers of the two groups are aligned in pairs relative to each other before being moved into contact with each other, and any differences in fiber lengths is compensated for by elastically deforming the fiber along the fiber main axis. This method eliminates the disadvantages associated with bending the fibers because length variations are essentially compensated for by axially compressing the fibers.
