A fuser component useful in electrostatographic machines is provided, having a substrate, and thereover a coating composition comprising a haloelastomer, such as, for example, a fluoroelastomer, and a deflocculating agent. A fuser component comprising a deflocculating agent exhibits improved properties including, but not limited to, increased gloss and a smoother coating surface with a relatively high adhesive strength. The use of a deflocculating agent also reduces or eliminates the barium sulfate defect.

A process for producing a fuser member coating including a) adding and reacting a fluoroelastomer, a crosslinking agent, a polar solvent, a fluorine-containing additive, and a deflocculant to form a coating solution, and b) providing the coating solution on the fuser member to form a fuser member coating, wherein the fluorine-containing additive includes pendant fluorinated groups.

A fuser member includes a substrate and an outer layer comprising a polymeric material, wherein the polymeric material is post-halogenated to provide a post-halogenated polymeric material. The fuser member is advantageously used without a release oil applied to the outer layer.
