Non-pigmented dispersant composition

The present invention provides addition compounds, which suitable as dispersants and as dispersion stabilizers, and to the salts of the said compounds. The invention further provides processes for preparing these addition compounds, to their use as dispersants and dispersion stabilizers for organic and inorganic pigments and also fillers in organic and aqueous systems, and to pulverous or fibrous solids coated with such dispersants and intended for incorporation into liquid systems.

The invention relates to addition compounds suitable for use as wetting agents and dispersants and obtainable by reacting monofunctional or polyfunctional aromatic epoxides with polyoxyalkylenemonoamines having a number-average molecular weight of &#x3e;400 g/mol, one primary or secondary amino group and at least 4 ether oxygen atoms per molecule, from 90 to 100% of the epoxide groups of the starting material having undergone reaction, the weight fraction of aromatic groups in the addition compounds being not more than 50% and the addition compounds containing per molecule at least one amino group on which salts can be formed, or being present as a salt. The invention also relates to a process for preparing the addition compounds, to their use as wetting agents and/or dispersants and to pigments or fillers coated with the addition compounds and to pigment pastes which comprise pigments, binders and the addition compounds of the invention.

Epoxide adducts and their salts as dispersants

The invention relates to coating compositions having anti-adhesion and dirt repellency properties, these compositions being admixed as additive with from 0.1 to 10% by weight, based on the solids content of the coating composition, of a branched polymer which possesses a weight-average molecular weight of from 2000 to 200,000 and comprises a polymeric base molecule and also polydiorganosiloxane side chains which are bonded covalently to the base molecule via Si&#x2014;C bonds, have a weight-average molecular weight of between 1000 and 30,000, and whose fraction of the total weight of the branched polymer is from 5 to 25% by weight. The present invention further relates to polymeric moulding compounds having anti-adhesion and dirt repellency properties, to which this branched polymer is added as additive in an amount of from 0.1 to 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the polymeric moulding compounds. The invention additionally relates to the use of the branched polymers as additives for coating compositions and polymeric moulding compounds.

The present invention relates to a dispersing agent for pigments or extenders which is obtainable by salt formation from an amine-functional compound by means of an acid, wherein a polyamine which contains at least three amino groups and which is from the group comprising aliphatic linear polyamines and/or aliphatic branched polyamines and/or modified polyamines, with the proviso that after modification three amino groups which can be converted into salts are still present per molecule, or a mixture of polyamines such as these, is used as the amine-functional compound, and wherein a substance from the group comprising phosphoric acid esters of general formula: (HO).sub.3-n PO(OR.sup.1).sub.n where n=1 or 2, sulphonic acids of general formula HOSO.sub.2 R.sup.2 and acidic sulphuric acid esters of general formula HOSO.sub.3 R.sup.2 is used as the acid, wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 represent an alkyl, aryl or aralkyl radical containing at least 5 C atoms and/or a radical of an oxyalkylated alcohol with a number average molecular weight between 100 and 5000 g/mole and/or a radical containing at least one carboxylic acid ester group and/or a urethane group with a number average molecular weight between 100 and 5000 g/mole, or a mixture of substances such as these, wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 can be the same or different. The invention also relates to the use of the dispersing agent and to a method of producing it.
