A circuit arrangement for generating the drive signals for at least three radio frequency switch-mode amplifiers is described. The circuit arrangement comprises at least two switch-mode amplifiers performing RF out-phasing, and at low RF power level, the average switching frequency&#x2014;averaged over time and over all switch-mode amplifiers&#x2014;is less than the radio frequency.

Method and circuit for driving a switch-mode amplifier array

A base band to frequency up-converter is described wherein the base band to frequency up-converter comprises a first input for receiving a first base band signal of first base band samples and a second input for receiving a second base band signal of second base band samples and an output for providing up-converted radio signal samples. The base-band to radio frequency up-converter further comprises a phase converter for converting the first base band signal of first base band samples and the second base band signal of second base band samples into a first intermediate signal of first intermediate samples, a second intermediate signal of second intermediate samples, and a third intermediate signal of third intermediate samples. The intermediate samples are then up-converted into radio signal samples.

Based-band to radio frequency up-converter

A Doherty amplifier () is described which comprises an input terminal () for receiving an input signal () and an output terminal () for providing an amplified signal () of the input signal (). The Doherty amplifier () comprises a carrier amplifier stage () with a first signal input () and a second signal input () and a peak amplifier stage () with a third signal input () and a fourth signal input (). A signal splitter () splits and delays the input signal () so that the signal at the first signal input () and the signal at the second signal input () are 180&#xb0; apart in phase and that the signal at the third signal input () and the fourth signal input () are also 180&#xb0; apart in phase.

Doherty amplifier arrangement

A delta-sigma modulator () for converting a delta-sigma modulator input signal into a sequence of delta-sigma modulator output values comprising an actual delta-sigma modulator output value and at least one preceding delta-sigma modulator output value preceding the actual delta-sigma modulator output value is presented. At least one feedback signal modifier for modifying a at least one first feedback signal in dependence of the actual delta-sigma modulator output value and the at least one preceding delta-sigma modulator output value is provided. By means of the at least one first feedback signal modifier the signal quality of a subsequent final stage () can be improved.

Delta-sigma modulator with feedback signal modification

A frequency translating analog-to-digital converter for receiving an analog band-pass signal is described. The analog-to-digital converter comprises an adder/input block for receiving the analog band-pass signal and an analog band-pass feedback signal, thereby forming an analog band-pass error signal. The analog-to-digital converter has at least one analog mixer for mixing and down converting the analog band-pass error signal and thus generating a down-converted analog error signal and at least one quantization path for generating at least one digital signal. The quantization path is adapted to be fed with the down-converted analog error signal and to output the at least one digital signal, and comprises at least one of an inner feedback path for feeding back the at least one digital signal to the at least one filter element or a feed forward path for feeding forward the down-converted analog error signal feeding to the at least one filter element, wherein the inner feedback path comprises an inner digital-to-analog converter. An outer common feedback path is provided for feeding the at least one digital signal back to the adder block, the outer feedback path comprising a digital-to-analog converter, to convert the at least one digital signal into an analog band-pass feedback signal.

Frequency translating analog-to-digital converter

A digital-to-analog converter () is described which comprises at least one cell (). The cell () has a first coupling capacitor () with a second terminal connected to an output and a first inverter () connected between a bias voltage and ground. The gates of the field effect transistors () forming the first inverter are connected to a data input () and a first common point between the field effect transistors () is connected to a first terminal of the first coupling capacitor ().

Digital-to-analog converter

An amplifier arrangement with an amplifier arrangement input and an amplifier arrangement output is disclosed. The amplifier arrangement comprises a first transistor and a first ballast resistance, wherein the first ballast resistance connects a first transistor base of the first transistor to a common base terminal at least one second transistor and at least one second ballast resistance, wherein the at least one second ballast resistance connects a second transistor base of the at least second transistor to the common base terminal; and a feedback device comprising a feedback input terminal for sensing at least a base voltage of the first transistor and further comprising a feedback output terminal that is connected to the common base terminal.

Amplifier arrangement

An asynchronous delta-sigma modulator is proposed that comprises an input port, a filter, an envelope path, a phase path, an amplifier, and a feedback path that conveys the amplifier output signal to the filter. The envelope path extracts an envelope from the signal provided by the filter and issues an envelope signal. The phase path processes or processes a phase from the signal provided by the filter and issues a phase signal. The amplifier comprises input ports for the envelope signal and the phase signal. The amplifier issues an amplifier output signal based on said envelope signal and said phase signal. The feedback path conveys the amplifier output signal to the filter. The feedback signal contains both amplitude information and phase information. A corresponding method and computer-program products usable for production and operation of the delta-sigma modulator are also disclosed.

Asynchronous delta-sigma modulator and a method for the delta-sigma modulation of an input signal

A delta-sigma modulator is disclosed which has a filter comprising a filter input, two LC resonators (LC-, LC-), and two switches (CBT/CGT). An input of each one of the two switches is connected to the filter input and a corresponding output of each one of the two switches is connected to a corresponding one of said LC resonators. Each one of the two switches is individually controllable for selectively connecting the corresponding one of the LC resonators with the filter input. The invention also relates to a method for changing the mode of operation of a delta-sigma modulator.

Reconfigurable bandpass delta-sigma modulator

An amplifier for amplifying a radio signal to a defined power output level is presented, wherein the amplifier comprises an amplifier input port, an amplifier output port, a first transistor for amplifying the radio signal received at a first transistor control input, wherein a first transistor output of the first transistor is supplied by a first power source; a at least second transistor for supplying the first transistor from a at least second power supply source. The application relates to a calibration apparatus and calibration method for a tuneable resonator of a delta-sigma modulator of the continuous time, band pass type. The calibration apparatus comprises: a resonator driver capable of causing an oscillating behavior in a resonator output signal, a reference signal source that provides a reference signal, a frequency detector that provides a frequency relation signal corresponding to the frequency relation between the resonator output signal and the reference signal, and a controller that controls the tuneable resonator in dependence from the frequency relation signal so as to reduce frequency deviation.
