A chest compression device includes a piston to apply compression to the sternum and incorporates leaf springs simultaneously driven by the piston to apply lateral compression to the thorax during chest compressions. A motor in the chest compression device provides motive power to cyclically extend and contract the piston to provide therapeutic chest compressions. One end of each leaf spring is operably connected to the piston and the other end of each leaf spring is secured to the backboard/base or to a support leg of the chest compression device such that during extension of the piston, each leaf spring is compressed against the device base or leg which causes the springs to flex and provide lateral compression of the patient's thorax in addition to the sternal compression of the piston.

Chest compression device

A mechanical chest compression device is secured to a gurney, transport stretcher or ambulance cot while engaging a patient's thorax to provide mechanical CPR during transport. The mechanical chest compression device compresses the patient's thorax against the gurney deck. The mechanical chest compression device may engage the side rails on the gurney, the gurney deck or any suitable structural elements of the gurney.

CPR gurney

Devices and methods for performing CPR on a patient within an imaging field of an imaging device. The device has a compression belt and a belt tensioning mechanism, both located on or in the device such that the head, neck, thorax and abdomen of the patient may be place within the imaging field with the compression belt installed about the patient and the belt tensioning mechanism will be located outside of the imaging field.

Chest compression devices for use with imaging systems, and methods of use of chest compression devices with imaging systems

A hybrid chest compression device includes a backboard with a motor and a drive spool housed within the backboard. There is also a piston support frame secured to the backboard forming a patient channel between the piston support frame and the backboard. There is a belt operably secured to the drive spool and enclosed within the backboard and the piston support frame and a piston operably housed within the piston support frame wherein motion of the belt actuates motion of the piston. Actuation of the motor results in cyclic rotation and counter-rotation of the motor and corresponding winding and unwinding of the belt on the drive spool to effectuate cyclic extension and retraction of the piston against the patient's chest to perform mechanical cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
