A bidirectional communication method between a master terminal and a slave terminal on a single transmission line includes the master terminal transmitting an initial message, a slave number and a master acknowledgement signal. After acknowledgement of the slave terminal, the master terminal transmits an address of the slave terminal and a master acknowledgement signal. After acknowledgement of the slave terminal, the master terminal transmits data and a master acknowledgement signal. After acknowledgement of the slave terminal, the master terminal transmits a master No-acknowledgement signal. And the slave terminal transmits a slave acknowledgement signal.

Bidirectional communication method between a master terminal and a slave terminal on a single transmission line

A read channel apparatus is disclosed for reading data recorded on an optical storage system at a predetermined baud rate. The apparatus asynchronously samples an analog read signal generating from the optical storage system and subtracts an estimated DC offset from the asynchronous sample values to generate a sequence of asynchronous DC-removed sample values. The asynchronous DC-removed sample values are separately interpolated by two interpolators to generate a sequence of synchronous even-time sample values and a sequence of synchronous odd-time sample values respectively. The synchronous even-time and odd-time sample values are separately equalized by two equalizers in accordance with a target spectrum to generate a sequence of even-time equalized sample values and a sequence of odd-time equalized sample values respectively. A DC offset estimator generates the estimated DC offset from the even-time equalized sample values and the odd-time equalized sample values. The interpolators are under the control of a timing recovery controller for synchronizing the even-time and odd-time sample values to the baud rate. In the preferred embodiment, the recorded data are determined from the even-time equalized sample values and the odd-time equalized sample values.

Read channel apparatus and method for an optical storage system

A read channel apparatus is disclosed for reading data recorded on an optical storage system. An exemplary sampling device samples an analog read signal generating from the optical storage system to generate a sequence of sample values. A subtractor subtracts an estimated DC offset from the sample values to generate a sequence of DC-removed sample values. An equalizer equalizes DC-removed sample values in accordance with a target spectrum to generate a sequence of equalized sample values. First and second interpolators interpolate the equalized sample values to respectively generate sequences of even-time sample values and odd-time sample values. A data sequence composed of the even-time and the odd-time sample values is substantially synchronized to the baud rate. A timing recovery controller controls the interpolators to synchronize the even-time and odd-time sample values to the baud rate.

Read channel apparatus for an optical storage system

A digital receiver is enabled to process modulated signals at various data rates including a sampling circuit for receiving modulated signals and outputting digitalized sampled signals, a matched filter for expelling noise from digitalized sampled signals at a first data rate and at a second data rate and generating in-phase and quadrature-phase signals, a barker code correlator for depreading digitalized sampled signals at first data rate, a channel equalizer which counteracts co-channel interferences by using equalizer coefficients obtained from a plurality of noise whitening coefficients so as to generate a sequence of symbol decisions therefrom, a CCK correlator coupled to the channel equalizer for decoding signals at the second data rate and at a third data rate, a first quantization filter for recovering transmitted signals at the first data rate, and a second quantization fitler for recovering transmitted signals at the second data rate and at the third data rate.
