A printing system and method direct a printing assembly to apply a first ink of a first color toward first areas of a machine-readable data representation on a corrugated material surface, and direct the printing assembly to apply a second ink of a second color toward second areas of the machine-readable data representation on the corrugated material surface. The second color of the second ink is different from the first color of the first ink. The first and second areas are not identical to each other. The printing assembly is directed to apply the first ink and to apply the second ink to form the machine-readable data representation for machine scanning of the machine-readable data representation while on the corrugated material surface.

Printing system and method

A printing system and method print different colors onto a target object to form a machine-readable data representation having a symbol contrast of at least 40%. The printing system and method direct print heads to print the different colors by printing a base layer of a first color of the different colors on the target object and printing an upper layer of a different, second color of the different colors on top of the base layer of the first color, or by printing print the machine-readable data representation as an interdigitated data representation by printing the different colors onto the target object so that none of the different colors is printed on top of another color of the different colors.

A method (e.g., for creating a printing plate assembly of an ink jet print head assembly) includes coating one or more sides of plural planar subsection plates with a bonding material. The subsection plates include printing holes through which a fluid is to be ejected from the ink jet print head assembly. The method also includes placing the subsection plates of the printing plate assembly against each other with the printing holes axially aligned with each other and heating the bonding material between the subsection plates such that the subsection plates are affixed to each other. The subsection plates are coupled with each other to form a chamber printing assembly that is coupled to the ink jet print head assembly that prints fluid onto one or more objects by ejecting the fluid out of the printing holes of the subsection plates. The subsection plates may be hermetically bonded to each other by inductively heating the assembly.

Printing plate assembly and method for an ink jet print head assembly

A restrictor plate for an ink jet print head assembly includes a substantially flat body having fluid flow passageways extending through the body. The fluid flow passageways are elongated between a fluid receiving volume end and an opposite fluid ejection volume end. The receiving volume end is fluidly coupled with a chamber and the ejection volume end is fluidly coupled with an orifice of the assembly from which the fluid is ejected. The receiving volume end receives the ink from the chamber so that the ink flows through the passageways along a printing direction. The body is shaped around the one or more fluid flow passageways to form one or more bottlenecks in the one or more fluid flow passageways that increase a fluid flow resistance of the fluid along a direction in the one or more fluid flow passageways that is opposite of the printing direction.

Printing fluid restrictor plate for an ink jet print head assembly and method

An ink jet print head assembly includes a carrier body, plural pistons, and a printing plate. The carrier body has an ejection side configured to face an object to be printed upon. The pistons are coupled with the carrier body. The printing plate is coupled with the ejection side of the carrier body and includes a diaphragm plate. The printing plate is configured to hold a fluid to be printed on the object on a side of the diaphragm plate that is opposite of the pistons. The printing plate includes orifices through which the fluid is ejected from the printing plate and onto the object being printed upon. The pistons are configured to actuate in ejection directions in order to engage the diaphragm plate and cause the fluid to be ejected from the orifices of the printing plate along printing directions. The ejection directions in which the pistons are actuated are transversely oriented with respect to the printing directions in which the fluid is ejected from the printing plate.

Ink jet print head assembly

An ink jet print head assembly includes a carrier body, plural pistons, and a printing plate. The pistons are configured to actuate in ejection directions in order to engage a diaphragm plate of the printing plate and cause fluid to be ejected from orifices of the printing plate along printing directions. The ejection directions in which the pistons are actuated are transversely oriented with respect to printing directions in which the fluid is ejected from the printing plate.
