An Information Handling System (IHS) display includes an integrated colorimeter that is stored within a front-facing bezel that borders one side of the display screen. The front-facing bezel includes hinged door that conceals a compartment housing a tray. The tray includes a colorimeter and is deployed from the front-facing bezel via the hinged door. With the tray deployed, the colorimeter is raised from the tray and positioned for measuring light emitted by the screen. The deployment of the tray from the front-facing bezel is along an axis perpendicular to the screen and the raising of the colorimeter from the deployed tray is along an axis parallel to the screen. The raised colorimeter may be positioned closer to the screen though movement of the tray along the axis perpendicular to the screen, thus reducing ambient light that reaches a colorimeter sensor of the colorimeter.

A display includes a keyboard, video mouse (KVM) switch that interfaces plural peripheral communication ports and plural information handling system ports. The KVM switch in a first configuration accepts video from one of the information handling system ports for presentation as visual images at a display panel and interfaces all of the plural peripheral communication ports with the one of the information handling system ports. When an end user commands a change to a different information handling system port and the KVM switch detects that a predetermined information transfer is taking place at the one of the information handling system ports, such as a bulk isochronous transfer or greater than a predetermined bandwidth utilization, the KVM switch changes the interface of peripheral devices and video to the second information handling system port while maintaining the transfer of the predetermined type of information with the first information handling system port.

Systems and methods are provided that may be implemented to identify viewable areas of a display panel (such as a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel) of a display panel assembly that are currently not utilized by a user, and then to selectively and dynamically turn off backlights or blocks of backlights (e.g., such as light emitting diode 'LED' backlight elements) that illuminate viewable areas of the display panel that correspond to these non-utilized viewable areas. The systems and methods may be so implemented in one example to reduce power consumption of a display panel assembly.

An information handling system sends plural display image streams through a single display cable to a display for presentation as plural display images at plural partitions. A multi stream hub integrated in the display receives the display cable information and sends each display stream out a source channel of the multi stream hub to a receive channel of the display controller. The display controller blends the received display information to present display images at the display panel with the display images partitioned by receive channel.

An information handling system operating an adaptive HDR tone mapping system may comprise a display screen including a plurality of pixels operating at a lower dynamic range of brightness values, a graphics processor executing code instructions to prepare data of an HDR digital image for display at the lower dynamic range, to determine a relative brightness ratio comparing a number of pixels in the data for the image to display at a brightness level below a typical display brightness and at or above the typical display brightness, and to generate a tone map to modify the data of the image if the relative brightness ratio does not meet or exceed a preset threshold such that the pixels are mapped to a maximum brightness of a peaking display brightness level of the display screen, and the display screen displaying the plurality of pixels according to the first adaptive tone map modification.

In an illustrative, non-limiting embodiment, an Information Handling System (IHS) may include an OLED screen and a controller coupled to the OLED screen, where the controller is configured to: generate at least one current histogram matrix for a current frame; compare the at least one current histogram matrix against at least one previous histogram matrix generated for a previous frame; and enter a screen protection mode of operation in response to the comparison indicating that the at least one current histogram matrix is different from the at least one previous histogram matrix by an amount equal to or smaller than a threshold.

Image sticking avoidance in organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays

LCD panel white balance adjustment provides a desired brightness with minimal impact on optical performance by maximizing Red, Green and Blue gains of the LCD panel for a predetermined color temperature and then adjusting brightness with backlight current. For example, Red, Green and Blue gain settings are set at substantially their maximum value to achieve a color temperature of 6500 degrees and then brightness for the LCD panel is adjusted to substantially 200 nits with the gains remaining at maximized values.
