An OLED display and a method for driving a display panel thereof are provided. The layout area of each pixel of the OLED display panel is specially designed to be a rectangle in shape, and the pixels are driven in such a manner that each two sub-pixels are taken as a unit to be driven. As such, according to the interaction manner among sub-pixels of the pixels, two sub-pixels can be viewed as one pixel to achieve more pixels within 1 inch in comparison with the conventional panels, which enables the current AMOLED driving circuit designs to be used in specific high resolution applications.

Organic light emitting diode display and method for driving display panel thereof

A first sub-pixel, a second sub-pixel and a third sub-pixel of a pixel are utilized to display a first white image, then a first brightness of the first sub-pixel and a first brightness of the second sub-pixel are measured. The first sub-pixel, the second sub-pixel and a fourth sub-pixel of the pixel are utilized to display a second white image, then a second brightness of the first sub-pixel and a second brightness of the second sub-pixel are measured. How image data should be displayed is determined according to whether the first brightness of the first sub-pixel is greater than the second brightness of the first sub-pixel, whether the first brightness of the second sub-pixel is greater than the second brightness of the second sub-pixel, and whether a chromaticity coordinate of the image data is within a chromaticity range capable of being displayed by the first, second and third sub-pixels.

Method of using a pixel to display an image

An exemplary active matrix organic light emitting diode (OLED) display includes a data line, a current sensing line, a power line and a plurality of pixels all electrically coupled to the data line, the current sensing line and the power line. During a data current is writing to a selected one of the pixels, the selected pixel draws a current from the current sensing line, and the data line supplies a particular data voltage to the selected pixel according to the drawn current from the current sensing line until the drawn current matched with the data current; the other non-selected pixels draw currents from the power line for light-emission. Moreover, a pixel circuit and a data current writing method adapted for the above-mentioned active matrix OLED display also are provided.

Active matrix organic light emitting diode (OLED) display, pixel circuit and data current writing method thereof

A driving circuit is adapted to drive a current-driven device. The driving circuit includes a first power supply circuit and a second power supply circuit. The first power supply circuit is for supplying a first positive voltage to a first terminal of the current-driven device. The second power supply circuit is for enabling a current flowing along a first current flow direction in a first time period and thereby a second terminal of the current-driven device is given a second positive voltage. The second power supply circuit further is for enabling a current from the current-driven device flowing out of the second power supply circuit along a second current flow direction. The first current flow direction and the second current flow direction are different directions in the second power supply circuit. Moreover, a light emitting device using the above-mentioned driving circuit also is provided.

Driving circuit used for current-driven device and light emitting device

A method for driving an active matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) display panel is provided. In the present method, how to drive a single pixel having a red sub-pixel, a green sub-pixel, a first blue (light blue) sub-pixel, and a second blue (dark blue) sub-pixel is effectively determined based on the characteristics of the (1931) CIE color space. Besides, at the same time point, only one of the two sub-pixels corresponding to the two blues (i.e. dark blue and light blue) in the single pixel is enabled to be mixed with the red sub-pixel and the green sub-pixel. Accordingly, the luminous efficiency of the AMOLED is improved and the power consumption of the entire AMOLED display is reduced.

An electroluminescent (EL) display device has pixels spatially arranged in a matrix, each pixel having first, second, third and fourth EL elements, gate lines each coupled to a respective row of pixels, first data lines each coupled to the first EL elements of a respective column of pixels, second data lines each coupled to the second EL elements of a respective column of pixels, first switches each coupled to a respective third EL element, second switches each coupled to a respective fourth EL element, a switch control line coupled to the first and second switches for providing a switching control signal to set the first and second switches to be in an ON state or an OFF state, and third data lines each coupled to the first and second switches corresponding to a respective column of pixels for transmitting a data signal.

An organic electroluminescent device and method for fabricating the same are provided. The organic electroluminescent device comprises an anode. An organic luminescent layer is formed over the anode. A partially light-transmitting layer is formed over the organic luminescent layer. A protection layer is formed over the partially light-transmitting layer. A reflection-reducing layer is formed over the protection layer. A cathode is formed over the reflection-reducing layer.

Fabrication method for organic electroluminescent display with reflection-reducing properties

A pixel driving circuit includes a first transistor, a second transistor, a third transistor, a forth transistor, a switching circuit, a first voltage generator, a second voltage generator, and a light emitting element. The source of the first transistor is electrically connected to the drain of the second transistor. The gate of the third transistor is electrically connected to the gate of the first transistor. The drain of the forth transistor is electrically connected to the source of the third transistor, and the gate of the forth transistor is electrically connected to the gate and the drain of the second transistor. The first voltage generator is coupled to the source of the second transistor and of the forth transistor. The light emitting element is coupled to the drain of the first transistor via a first electrode, and to the second voltage generator via a second electrode. The switching circuit is electrically connected to the drain and the gate of the third transistor.

Organic electroluminescent display and pixel driving circuit thereof for reducing the kink effect

Top-emitting organic light emitting diode (OLED) structures and fabrication method thereof. A first electrode is formed on a substrate. A dielectric layer including at least one first opening is formed on the first electrode. An organic emission layer is formed on the dielectric layer and fills the first opening. A method of fabricating a pixel structure for use in an electroluminescent panel includes the following steps. A substrate is provided. Three shadow masks having a plurality of first, second, and third openings patterned in an array of T shaped are respectively provided, and three evaporation processes using the three shadow masks are subsequently performed to form a plurality of first subpixel units, second subpixel units and third subpixel units respectively. One first subpixel of the first subpixel unit, one second subpixel of the second subpixel unit adjacent to the first subpixel unit, and one third subpixel of the third subpixel unit adjacent to the first subpixel unit form a display pixel unit.

An organic electroluminescent device (OELD) is provided. The OELD includes a substrate, a first electrode, a second electrode, a hole transport layer, an electron transport layer and two emissive layers. The first electrode and the second electrode are disposed over the substrate. The hole transport layer is disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The electron transport layer is disposed between the second electrode and the hole transport layer. The emissive layers are disposed between the hole transport layer and the electron transport layer. One of the emissive layers is a fluorescent emissive layer and another one of the emissive layers is a phosphorescent emissive layer. The visible light of the fluorescent emissive layer and the phosphorescent emissive layer are not absorbed by each other and the visible light spectrums of the fluorescent emissive layer and the phosphorescent emissive layer are not affected by each other.
