This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to adaptation of secure sounding signal. A device may determine a negotiated bandwidth to be used when communicating with a first station device. The device may determine a first bit stream used to generate a cyclic shift diversity (CSD) value based on the negotiated bandwidth, wherein a first number of bits is used for the first bit stream when a first negotiated bandwidth is used, and wherein a second number of bits is used for the first bit stream when a second negotiated bandwidth is used. The device may determine a second bit stream used to generate a random phase. The device may determine a secure a long training field (LTF) based on a combination of the first bit stream and the second bit stream. The device may cause to send a frame to the first station device, wherein the frame comprises the secure LTF.

Adaptation of secure sounding signal to bandwidth variation

Embodiments of an access point (AP), station (STA) and method for subcarrier scaling are generally described herein. The AP may transmit a high efficiency (HE) physical layer convergence procedure (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) that includes a legacy long training field (L-LTF), a legacy signal (L-SIG) field, and an HE signal (HE-SIG) field. The HE-SIG may be based on HE-SIG symbols mapped to a group of HE subcarriers that includes legacy subcarriers and HE extension subcarriers. The L-LTF may be based on L-LTF pilot symbols mapped to the legacy subcarriers. The L-SIG may be based on L-SIG legacy symbols mapped to the legacy subcarriers and L-SIG extension pilot symbols mapped to the HE extension subcarriers. The AP may scale a per-subcarrier power of the L-SIG extension pilot symbols to match a per-subcarrier power of the L-LTF pilot symbols.

A method and system for receiving and decoding horizontally encoded MIMO-OFDM transmissions with improved efficiency. In one embodiment, MIMO decoding is performed on each of the extracted separate tones of a MIMO-OFDM signal to extract and demodulate frequency domain symbols of the first layer corresponding to one or more code blocks. For each code block of the first layer that passes an error check, corresponding portions of the second layer are decoded using SIMO decoding.

A method and system for adaptive mitigation of noise interference in a receiver. In one embodiment of the invention, the receiver determines the type of the dominant noise interference among one or more noise interferences. The receiver determines or optimizes the estimation and averaging process of the noise covariance matrix based on the type of the dominant noise interference in one embodiment of the invention. This allows dynamic selection and adaptation of the noise estimate covariance matrix based on the noise type in one embodiment of the invention.

Method and apparatus for adaptive mitigation of noise interference

A system and method for decoding a Multi User (MU) Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) signal is disclosed. The method comprises receiving a selected symbol in a tone of an MU-MIMO signal at a mobile communication device. A channel response for the selected symbol is identified. Spatial whitening is applied to the tone and the channel response using an average of a co-user interference plus noise matrix that is averaged over a selected number of tones. Maximal ratio combining is performed for the spatially whitened tone and the spatially whitened channel response matrix to decode the selected symbol out of the spatially whitened tone.

Techniques to decode tail biting convolutional code are disclosed. A plurality of sets for a trellis may be determined. Each set may include a first stage and a second stage of the trellis. Path metrics for each state in a set may be determined when the first stage and the second stage have a same state. The path metrics may be compared to determine a state with a minimum path metric. Bits from the state with the minimum path metric may be output. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

System, method and apparatus for tail biting convolutional code decoding

A device, system, and method are presented for detecting motion. The system may include the device and a first transmitter and a second transmitter configured to transmit a first set of wireless signals and a second set of wireless signals, respectively. The device may have a receiver configured to receive the first and second set of wireless signals, and may further include a processing unit that determines a first value and a second value indicative of fading attenuations experienced by the first set of wireless signals and the second set of wireless signals, respectively. The processing unit may further determine whether the first and second values are each consistent with motion of an object in proximity to the device. The processing unit may cause the device to output an indication of presence of the object if both values are consistent with motion of the object in proximity to the device.

A method and apparatus for decoding a frame control header message in a wireless communication transmission are disclosed. The method comprises assuming at least some of the bits comprising the frame control header message are constant across multiple frames or are known a priori and generating metrics at least from the bits of the frame control header message that are assumed to be constant or are known a priori. The method further comprises decoding the metrics, for example, with a Viterbi decoder or using chase combining, to yield the decode frame control header message.
