Low profile valves are described. In an embodiment, a tubular member for fluid transport has a valve constructed within a wall of the tubular member for controlling a radial flow of fluid, such as water, oil, or gas, through the wall without impeding the flow of fluid or tools through the tubular member or near the exterior of the tubular member. The low profile valve may be used, for example, in the oil and gas industries as a pressure relief valve or check valve. When used as a pressure relief valve, a load member such as a spring, strap, or rocker arm maintains a backpressure on the valve. Example low profile valves can provide flow control from within a very thin annulus between other components.

An apparatus that is usable with a well includes a gas lift valve and an isolation member. The gas lift valve includes a valve element that is located between an annulus and a passageway of a tubing. The valve element is adapted to selectively open and close to control fluid communication through the valve element. The isolation member is adapted to in a first state, isolate the valve element from at least one of the annulus and the passageway and in a second state, permit fluid communication between the valve element and the annulus or passageway.

A kickover tool is for placing and extracting a valve in a mandrel having a tool body extending in a longitudinal direction and having a hydraulic piston chamber therein. A hydraulic piston is located inside the hydraulic piston chamber. A kickover arm portion is mechanically connected to the hydraulic piston, the kickover arm portion comprising a kickover arm having a tool portion. The kickover arm has a non-kicked-over position where the kickover arm is substantially coaxial with the longitudinal direction and a kicked-over position where the kickover arm is substantially non-coaxial with the longitudinal direction. The kickover arm moves to the kicked-over position upon extension of the hydraulic piston.

A gas lift valve has a flow restrictor, a valve part on one side of the flow restrictor, a flow deflector and a tubular member on another side of the flow restrictor, and a flapper valve on the side of the flow restrictor where the tubular member is located, the flapper valve being adjacent to the tubular member. When fluid flows into the gas lift valve at sufficient pressure, the valve part opens, the fluid flows through the flow restrictor and acts on the flow diverter thereby moving the tubular member and opening the flapper valve. The tubular member extends though the opening the flapper valve covered.

A pumping system including a first section and a second section. The first section includes a first housing having an axial bore formed therethrough and a protruding member formed on one end of the first housing, and a first shaft arranged within the axial bore of the first housing. The second section include a second housing having an axial bore formed therethrough and a recess formed on one end of the second housing for receiving the protruding member of the first housing, and a second shaft arranged within the axial bore of the second housing. An apparatus for compensating oil volume change in a motor, including a compensator housing having an open end for connecting to the motor, and a closed end; and a flexible bladder arranged within the housing and connected to the open end of the housing.

A kickover tool is disclosed for installing and retrieving a well flow control device from a side pocket mandrel in a wellbore. The kickover tool includes a spring-loaded key which has an outer circumferential surface having a predetermined machined pattern formed therein. Each side pocket mandrel in the tubing string contains a profile having a predetermined machined pattern. The spring-loaded key will engage the side pocket mandrel with a profile matching the pattern on the outer circumferential surface of the spring-loaded key. When that engagement occurs, the articulated arm of the kickover tool is permitted to be deployed to insert a well flow control device in the side pocket of the side pocket mandrel.

A gas lift valve that is usable with a subterranean well includes a housing, a valve stem and at least one bellows. The housing has a port that is in communication with a first fluid, and the valve stem is responsive to the first fluid to establish a predefined threshold to open the valve. The bellow(s) form a seal between the valve stem and the housing. The bellow(s) are subject to a force that is exerted by the first fluid; and a second fluid contained in the bellow(s) opposes the force that is exerted by the first fluid.
