In general, in one aspect, embodiments relate to a resettable latch assembly for latching downhole to a mating mandrel; that comprises a mandrel, a latch collet disposed on the mandrel, wherein the latch collet is radially flexible with respect to the mating mandrel, and an energy transfer line extending a length of the mandrel; wherein the resettable latch assembly is latchable, releasable, and relatchable to the mating mandrel with translational movement.

A completion system for use in a wellbore includes an upper completion assembly including a stinger sub and a first portion wet-mate connector. The system also includes a lower completion assembly including a shift sleeve, a wet-mate deployment carrier, and a second portion wet-mate connector connectable with the first portion wet-mate connector. Axial movement of the shift sleeve in a first direction moves the wet-mate deployment carrier and the second portion wet-mate connector from a radially outward position to a radially inward position such that the second portion wet-mate connector is positioned to connect with the first portion wet-mate connector.

Downhole wet-mate systems and methods using wet-mate deployment carrier

A completion system is provided for use downhole in a wellbore that includes a pipe with a restriction inside the pipe. The system includes an upper completion assembly with a mandrel with a mandrel axis and a stinger sub rotatably connected with the mandrel and rotatable around a stinger axis offset from the mandrel axis. The stinger sub also includes a first portion wet-mate connector located in a radially outward portion of the stinger sub. The system also includes a lower completion assembly with a second portion wet-mate connector. The first and second portion wet-mate connectors are connectable downhole. Further, rotation of the stinger sub around the stinger axis rotates and moves the radially outward portion radially inward with respect to the mandrel axis. Doing allows the upper completion assembly to move past a restriction and further downhole into the wellbore.

A system can be used to connect downhole fiber optic wet mates. The system can include a first completion system and a second completion system. The first completion system can include a stinger sub-system that can include a first energy transfer line coupled to a first wet mate connector. The second completion system can include a deflector sub-system that can include a deflector positioned adjacent to a second wet mate connector that can be coupled with a second energy transfer line. The deflector can be positioned in the second completion system to deflect the stinger sub-system laterally outward to cause the second wet mate connector to couple with the first wet mate connector.

A system can be used to deploy a wet mate connector radially outward. The system can include a first sub-assembly and a second sub-assembly. The first sub-assembly can include a first wet mate connector and a deflection profile. The second sub-assembly can include (i) a wet mate carrier that can include a second wet mate connector and can be located on a second surface of the second sub-assembly, and (ii) a deflection actuator. The deflection actuator can be displaced by the deflection profile to cause the wet mate carrier to deflect outward to cause the second wet mate connector to couple with the first wet mate connector.

A method and apparatus that includes positioning a completion string that has an internal passageway and that has an external surface that at least partially defines an external region within a wellbore; isolating a zone of the external region from a wellbore hydrostatic pressure; measuring a pressure within the external region of the isolated zone; determining whether the pressure within the external region of the isolated zone is within a predetermined pressure range; and operating a valve that controls a flow of a fluid through a flow path from the internal region to the external region of the isolated zone when the pressure within the external region is outside of the predetermined pressure range.

A method and apparatus that includes an elongated base pipe having an external surface at least partially defining an external region and an internal surface at least partially defining an internal region; and a pressure maintenance device disposed in the base pipe and comprising: a flow path that extends between the internal region and the external region; and a valve having a gas charged chamber, the valve allowing the flow of a fluid from the internal region to the external region through the first flow path when a pressure differential between a pressure associated with the internal region and a pressure associated with the gas charged chamber is less than a maximum pressure threshold and when a pressure differential between the external region and the pressure associated with the gas charged chamber is greater than a minimum pressure threshold.

Mechanical downhole pressure maintenance system

A method and apparatus that includes an elongated base pipe having an external surface at least partially defining an external region and an internal surface at least partially defining an internal region; and a pressure maintenance device disposed in the base pipe and includes a first flow path that extends between an opening in the external surface and an opening in the internal surface; a first valve that controls the flow of a first fluid through the first flow path; a first pressure differential sensor that controls the actuation of the first valve and is in fluid communication with the external region; and a pressurized fluid source in fluid communication with the first pressure differential sensor; wherein a first pressure differential threshold associated with the first pressure differential sensor is the difference between a pressure within the external region and the pressurized fluid source.

Downhole pressure maintenance system using reference pressure

A method and system for installing one or more control lines on a travel joint is disclosed. A control line coil is arranged along a travel joint. An inner mandrel is coupled to an upper bushing and a lower bushing. The control line coil is wrapped along the outer surface of the inner mandrel. The control line coil comprises a first portion located proximate the upper bushing, a second portion located proximate to the lower bushing and a straight length control line extending between the first portion and the second portion. The first distal end of the straight length control line is coupled to the upper bushing and the second distal end of the straight length control line is coupled to the lower bushing.
