An object manager can manage memory in a mobile device to provide more effective use of resources and a better user experience. The object manager can store objects in different types of memory (e.g., ashmem or native memory) instead of the JAVA heap. When storing data objects in different types of memory, the system can use reference counting to manage objects. The object manager can also coordinate retrieval and display of images to further improve a user experience by progressively displaying images or asynchronously retrieving images from a network. The object manager can, for example, display a low resolution image first while a second higher resolution image is retrieved from a network and that image is progressively displayed. Also, the object manager can retrieve objects from local memory, a cache, or the network sequentially or in parallel.

Memory management and image display for mobile devices

A customer with a customer device performs a search for reviews of a particular software product of interest to the customer. The customer is then presented with entries from reviewers that have the same device as the customer, or a device on which the product is expect to run or operate in a manner similar to how it runs on the customer's device.

Product review system and method

A system and method for providing destination recommendations to a user based on mining of a location history. The location history provides information on locations visited by users of the system over time. The system mines the location history to identify location pairs. Each location pair comprises an originating location visited by a user and a next location that was visited by the user within a defined time threshold of visiting the originating location. The system aggregates location pairs by common originating location. The system then takes into account the current location of a requesting user. The system uses the current location information to identify a corresponding originating location in a location history index. The system provides recommendations based at least in part on how frequently certain next locations were visited after visiting the originating location.
