A system includes a processor and a memory accessible to the processor. The memory stores instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to provide a graphical user interface (GUI) including a plurality of user-selectable elements accessible by a user to select a patent strength calculator from a plurality of patent strength calculators, to edit a patent strength calculator, or to create a new patent strength calculator. The memory further stores instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to apply a selected patent strength calculator to a list of documents to determine a patent strength score for each patent of the list of documents.

In a particular embodiment, a system is disclosed that includes processing logic and memory accessible to the processing logic. The memory includes instructions executable by the processing logic to receive data related to search results and to automatically generate a query based on the received data and without explicit user query input. The memory also includes instructions executable by the processing logic to generate at least one visualization of second data related to search results from the generated query.

System and methods of automatic query generation

In a particular embodiment, a method includes sending a text string from a source device to a destination device. The destination device includes a unique identifier repository having a plurality of globally unique identifiers mapped text strings, relationship data defining associations between the plurality of globally unique identifiers, and meta-data related to the text string. Each of the plurality of globally unique identifiers includes a data value that is shared by a plurality of data sources as an identifier associated with information related to the text string. The method further includes receiving data including one or more globally unique identifiers, associated relationship data, and associated meta-data from the destination device at the source device in response to sending the text string. Additionally, the method includes storing the received data at a memory of the source device for use in searching and relating search results received from multiple data sources.

System and method of applying globally unique identifiers to relate distributed data sources

In a particular embodiment, a method of goal-oriented searching is disclosed that includes providing a graphical user interface including an input and a selectable indicator. The selectable indicator is related to a pre-defined query associated with a particular goal. The particular goal includes multiple criteria. The method also includes receiving data related to the input and inserting the data into the pre-defined query to produce a goal-oriented query to identify one or more documents that satisfy the multiple criteria.

A method and apparatus is presented for providing transaction-level security. The method comprises determining security information associated with at least one object of a transaction and determining if a remote device is capable of providing a level of security indicated by at least a portion of the security information. Generating an alert password that is easier to crack than the user password in some embodiment further comprises: generating an alert password having a cracking difficulty; attempting to crack the alert password and the user password until one cracks; and if the user password cracks first, repeatedly carrying out the following steps so long as the user password continues to crack first: generating an alert password having a reduced cracking difficulty; and attempting to crack both the alert password having a reduced cracking difficulty and the user password until one cracks.

In a particular embodiment, a graphical user interface (GUI) generated by a processor of a search system includes a search results window operable to display a set of search results within a table that includes a plurality of sub-tables corresponding to a plurality of categories. Each sub-table represents at least one category and includes a respective subset of the set of search results. The GUI further includes a plurality of local control elements, where each local control element is associated with a respective sub-table of the plurality of sub-tables. Each local control element is accessible to a user to selectively sort the respective subset of the set of search results within the respective sub-table according to a user-selected local sort parameter without altering a sort order of respective subsets of the set of search results within other sub-tables of the plurality of sub-tables.

The system includes an interface to a network, a visualization system to provide a search interface to a destination device via the network, and a search system. The search system communicates with the interface to receive a query from the destination device. The search system proxies the query to search multiple data sources, receives search results from the multiple data sources, and extracts data from the search results. The system also includes a personalization system to personalize the search results from the multiple data sources to a particular user.

A data base of unknown events is mined for application to the development of a system management policy document. In a particular embodiment, a system to present search results is disclosed that includes a search system to retrieve search results from multiple data sources and to extract data from the search results. The system also includes a visualization system to generate a graphical user interface (GUI) including a visualization of data related to the search results and including multiple control options. The multiple control options include a first option and a second option related to the extracted data, where the first option is accessible to alter the visualization.

Metadata describing common Java classes is extracted and utilized to optimize a Java program's performance based on the code requirements of the application. Data mining techniques extract metadata and other information about different sets of JVM byte code written by multiple vendors to determine the design choices and optimizations made by each vendor in implementing their JVM. Then, byte code in a Java application being programmed is analyzed in comparison to each vendor's JVM metadata and information. Based upon the application's requirements (for example footprint, performance, etc.), recommendations are generated that yield a newly compiled rt.jar that combines the best practices of each vendor together or recommends a particular vendor's standard JVM that is best suited for the application.

Optimizing application performance through data mining

A method and system for managing an intrusion on a computer by graphically representing an intrusion pattern of a known past intrusion, and then comparing the intrusion pattern of the known intrusion with a current intrusion. The intrusion pattern may either be based on intrusion events, which are the effects of the intrusion or activities that provide a signature of the type of intrusion, or the intrusion pattern may be based on hardware topology that is affected by the intrusion. The intrusion pattern is graphically displayed with scripted responses, which in a preferred embodiment are presented in pop-up windows associated with each node in the intrusion pattern. Alternatively, the response to the intrusion may be automatic, based on a pre-determined percentage of common features in the intrusion pattern of the known past intrusion and the current intrusion.

Method and system for responding to a computer intrusion

Systems and methods of application integration, including constructing an application integration adapter in dependence upon a profile including data describing the adapter, receiving instructions to alter the adapter, and altering the adapter in dependence upon the instructions. Exemplary embodiments of the invention include communicating integration messages among applications through the adapter as altered. In typical embodiments, receiving instructions to alter the adapter includes detecting changes in the adapter profile. In such embodiments, detecting changes in the adapter profile includes creating a copy of the profile, and periodically comparing the profile and the copy. In other exemplary embodiments, receiving instructions to alter the adapter includes receiving from an application an administrative integration message bearing the instructions to alter the adapter. In such embodiments, altering the adapter in dependence upon the instructions includes updating the profile.

A computer implemented method is provided for a bi-directional data mapping tool. The method for mapping between at least two data models comprises selecting a source including a first data model, selecting a target including a second data model and defining a relationship between the data in the source and the data in the target. The method further comprises generating a bi-directional map from at least portions of the source, the target, and the defined relationship.
