An orthopaedic prosthetic component comprises a fixation peg including a porous three-dimensional structure configured to permit bone in-growth. The porous three-dimensional structure has an outer surface boundary. The fixation peg includes a plate attached to the porous three-dimensional structure at the outer surface boundary. The plate includes a tapered body having an outer wall that faces away from the porous three-dimensional structure and is devoid of any openings.

An apparatus and methods for locating the axis of rotation of one or more condyles are disclosed. A condyle axis locator can include a first concave member, a second concave member, and a handle extending between the first and second concave members. The first and second concave members can include first and second locating members, respectively, extending from a surface of the first and second concave members. The first and second locating members can each include at least one opening for receiving a marking instrument. A method for locating the axis of rotation of a condyle can include positioning a first longitudinal bone in flexion relative to an adjacent second longitudinal bone, placing one of the concave members of the condyle axis locator under the condyle, and inserting a marking instrument in the opening of the locating member to mark the axis of rotation of the condyle.

Condyle axis locator

An acetabular cup assembly for use in the replacement of a hip joint, including a shell having a substantially hemispherical outer surface and an inner surface. The inner surface includes a groove extending at least partially around the inner surface. A provisional liner is provided which is receivable within the shell, the liner including a hemispherical cavity and articulation surface for receipt of the femoral head of a femoral prosthesis, and at least one flexible tab portion which engages the groove of the shell in a snap-fit manner.
