An electronic device includes a housing sidewall defining an opening and a display component, such as a display cover, disposed in the opening to form a gap between the housing sidewall and the display component. In at least one example, the cavity is defined by the sidewall and the display cover with the cavity in fluid communication with an external environment through the gap. In at least one example, an epoxy component at least partially defines the cavity and can be in direct contact with the housing sidewall.

Electronic device

Housings for electronic devices are disclosed, as well as electronic devices including the housings. A wireless communication system of the electronic device may include an antenna element within a display assembly. The antenna element within the display assembly may be operatively coupled to a conductive upper portion of the housing. The housing may define a slot between the conductive upper portion and a conductive lower portion of the housing, and a dielectric material may be positioned within the slot.

The disclosed technology relates to a battery pack configured to be structurally mounted to a portable electronic device. The battery pack may comprise an enclosure configured to enclose a plurality of layers. One or more primary brackets may be connected to at least one wall of the enclosure. Each of the one or more primary brackets may be configured to be coupled to a device. The battery pack may be configured to provide at least one component of the device with power when the one or more primary brackets are coupled to the device. A protector may be interposed between at least one of the one or more primary brackets and the at least one wall of the enclosure. The protector may be configured to provide a layer of protection between the at least one primary bracket and the plurality of layers.

Structurally mountable battery

An electronic device can include a touch sensitive display and an electrode electrically isolated from the touch sensitive display. The electrode can be configured to receive a first signal associated with performing a first function of the electronic device. In some examples, the electronic device can include a controller in electrical communication with the touch sensitive display and the electrode. The controller can be configured to perform a second function via the electrode, the second function including driving a second signal to the electrode when the electrode and the touch sensitive display are touched simultaneously. The second signal can have a characteristic distinguishable from naturally occurring capacitive noise detected by the touch sensitive display.

An electronic device can include a housing, a back cover, a structural member, and a sensing circuit. The housing can at least partially define an internal volume of the electronic device and the back cover can define at least a portion of the internal volume and be connected to the housing. The structural member can be disposed against the back cover and at least partially within the internal volume, the structural member including an electronic component. The sensing circuit can be disposed in the internal volume and electrically coupled to the electronic component. The sensing circuit can detect an amount of charge of the electronic component as part of a user proximity sensor of the electronic device.

Using a structural internal element as a capacitive element to sense proximity

An input component for an electronic device can include a dial that defines an exterior surface and a shaft affixed to the dial. The dial and the shaft can be rotatable about a central axis of the shaft and the shaft can include a protruding portion that defines a channel. A collar can surround a portion of the shaft and can be at least partially disposed in the channel. A bushing can be positioned between the collar and the protruding portion of the shaft, with the bushing defining a groove.
