A medical device-placing system includes an ultrasound probe, a medical-device detector, a console, and an alternative-reality headset. The ultrasound probe is configured to emit ultrasound signals into a patient's limb and receive echoed ultrasound signals from the patient's limb. The medical-device detector is configured for placement about the patient's limb. The console is configured to transform the echoed ultrasound signals to produce ultrasound-image segments corresponding to anatomical structures of the patient's limb, as well as transform magnetic-sensor signals from the medical-device detector into location information for a magnetized medical device within the patient's limb. The alternative-reality headset includes a display screen through which a wearer of the alternative-reality headset can see the patient's limb. The display screen is configured to display over the patient's limb a virtual medical device per the location information for the medical device within objects of virtual anatomy corresponding to the ultrasound-image segments.

Systems and methods for visualizing anatomy, locating medical devices, or placing medical devices

Alternative-reality devices and methods are disclosed for establishing and visualizing historical sites of vascular access, which are useful for evaluating potential sites of vascular access and improving the successes of obtaining vascular access. For example, an alternative-reality device includes anatomical target-defining instructions and vascular access site-tracking instructions in memory of the alternative-reality device for execution by one-or-more processors thereof. The alternative-reality device also includes a patient-facing camera configured to capture images or video frames for generating an anatomical target in the memory per the anatomical target-defining instructions and tracking the historical sites of vascular access in relation thereto with the vascular access site-tracking instructions. With a display screen of the alternative-reality device, a user can instantly see an environment including an anatomical portion of a patient to which the anatomical target corresponds, as well as graphical elements anchored to the anatomical portion indicating the historical sites of vascular access.

Alternative-reality devices and methods for establishing and visualizing historical sites of vascular access

A medical analytic system features an ultrasound probe communicatively coupled to a console, which includes a processor and a memory. The memory includes an alternative reality ('AR') anatomy representation logic, which can include representation logic with (i) visualization logic configured to capture information associated with multiple sub-images at different layers of an ultrasound image of an anatomical element, (ii) virtual slice positioning logic configured to position and orient each sub-image based on usage parameters during emission of the ultrasound signals from the ultrasound probe for capturing of the ultrasound image, (iii) virtual object assembly logic configured to assemble each of the sub-images to form a virtual representation of the anatomical element, and/or (iv) virtual object display logic configured to render the virtual representation of the anatomical element in an AR environment.

System and method for generating virtual blood vessel representations in mixed reality

A medical device-placing system including a medical-device tip-location sensor ('TLS') configured for placement on a chest of a patient, an ultrasound probe, a console, and an alternative-reality headset. The ultrasound probe can be configured to emit ultrasound signals into the patient and receive echoed ultrasound signals from the patient. The console can be configured to transform the echoed ultrasound signals to produce ultrasound-image segments corresponding to anatomical structures of the patient, as well as transform TLS signals from the TLS into location information for a medical device within the patient. The alternative-reality headset can include a display screen through which a wearer of the alternative-reality headset can see the patient. The display screen can be configured to display over the patient a virtual medical per the location information for the medical device within objects of virtual anatomy corresponding to the ultrasound-image segments.

A guidance system for guiding insertion of a needle into a body of a patient utilizes ultrasound imaging or other suitable imaging technology. The guidance system can include an imaging device including a probe for producing an image of the internal body portion target, such as a blood vessel. The imaging device can be configured to provide at least one indication of status via sensory feedback based on a determined position of the needle, for example via a plurality of light-emitting diodes located on the device. One or more sensors can be included with the probe that can sense a magnetic field associated with the needle. The system may include a processor that can receive magnetic field data sensed by the at-least-one sensor to determine the position of the needle. The system can also include a display that depicts the determined position of the needle.
