A method of making a setting type compound by injecting an activator compound into a plaster compound wherein the activator compound tube is coaxial and within the plaster compound tube, each at the same flowrate, the same pressure and the same viscosity. The cross sectional transverse areas of an annulus containing the plaster compound and the hole in the annulus containing the activator compound are the same.

Method of making a sprayable setting type compound

Joint compounds and spackling compounds which comprise a sanding indicator, the compounds displaying a first color at the surface upon drying/hardening. Methods for finishing a substrate or patching a substrate, the methods comprise applying the joint compound which comprises the sanding indicator and/or the spackling compound which comprises the sanding indicator and sanding the dried/hardened compound until the first color is removed. Methods for repairing walls and ceiling in which the present spackling compound is applied to a variety of substrates, including wallboard, plaster and/or wood. A ready-mixed setting type joint compound in which formation of gypsum seeds has been inhibited. A method for controlling a setting reaction by mixing a ready-mixed setting type joint compound with one or more metal ion control agents comprising aminopolycarboxylic acid and/or a salt thereof, and further mixing the setting type joint compound with one or more non-calcium phosphate compounds. The method may further comprise mixing the setting type joint compound with a set activator obtained by blending together a first set activator including a cadmium compound, lead compound and/or zinc compound and a second set activator including a ferrous compound, aluminum compound and/or manganese compound.
