Systems involving distributed control functions are described herein. Each member or device within the system has responsibility for controlling part of the system's behavior, and includes logic to determine what action, if any, will follow as a response to determining information or receiving information from other members or devices within the system. A change of status of one member of a system may provide a basis for action by another member of the system. Status may be the result of sensing a condition of the environment, sensing the condition of a component, receiving the output of a conventional sensor, and/or sensing the condition of a link between components. In some embodiments, action taken by a member of the system may include collecting data during law enforcement activities.

Systems and methods for distributed control

Police officers use conducted electrical weapons ('CEWs') and cameras. A camera and a CEW may cooperate to improve the performance and use of the CEW and evidence collection by the camera. A camera and a CEW may also cooperate to improve the safety of the user and the target. Improvements may include improving targeting of the CEW, identifying and classifying body parts of the target as suitable or unsuitable for electrode deployment, adjusting electrode trajectory prior to launch, and automating electrode launch. Evidence collection may be improved by recording placement of electrodes on the target. Safety of the target may be improved by monitoring the movements of the target and altering characteristics of the delivered stimulus signal if potential harm to the target may occur.

Systems and methods for cooperation between cameras and conducted electrical weapons

System and methods for aligning event data recorded by recording devices. Recording devices create, transmit, and store alignment data. Alignment data created by a recording device is stored in the memory of the recording device with a time that is maintained by the recording device and that is relative to the time of event data recorded by the recording device that creates the alignment data. Recording devices further receive and store transmitted alignment data. Alignment data received by a recording device is stored in the memory of the recording device with a time that is maintained by the receiving recording device and that is relative to the time of event data recorded by the recording device that creates alignment data. Stored alignment data may be used to align the playback of event data of devices that have the same alignment data.

Systems and methods for aligning event data

Computer-implemented methods and systems for processing recorded data for storage is provided. An auditable device, such as a digital video camera, stores a set of recorded data. The auditable device also stores auditable event entries that represent auditable events detected by the auditable device. One type of auditable event is the receipt of information from a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system that indicates an event. The auditable device marks at least one subset of the set of recorded data based on the auditable event entries, and uploads the marked at least one subset of the set of recorded data to an evidence management system.

Systems and methods for processing recorded data for storage using computer-aided dispatch information

A recording device may record information continuously. Particular events which occur during recording may be of interest for review (e.g., audit, inspection). Events may be audited to ensure that the data gathered is not tampered with or corrupted and to provably establish an evidence chain of custody. Metadata may mark recorded data of an event, in whole or in part, for later review. Metadata may be identified as an audit tag which may identify particular occurrences during an event. An audit tag may be urgent or non-urgent. Notice of an urgent audit tag may be sent to a server prior to sending the recorded data associated with the audit tag. Recorded data may be cryptographically signed to protect the recorded data from tampering.

Auditing recorded data from a recording device

A recording device captures information and stores the information in a data store as a data record. The recording device includes a low-power wireless interface and a high-power wireless interface. A network device includes a low-power wireless interface and a high-power wireless interface. An activation device transmits a data notification and a network notification. Upon receiving the data notification, the network device activates its high-power wireless interface. Upon receiving the network notification, the recording device activates its high-power wireless interface. The recording device transmits the data record to the network device via its high-power wireless interface.

Systems and methods for recovering information from a recording device

A system for tracking, assigning, and issuing equipment to security agency personnel (e.g., officers, administration, command, armorer). An armorer is assigned the task of tracking, assigning, and issuing equipment. Equipment may be assigned to a particular individual officer. The equipment provided to and used by officers may capture (e.g. gather, produce) information (e.g. audiovisual information, data logs, recordings). Equipment may provide information to the armorer via near field communication (NFC) circuits. The information captured may be used alone or in combination with other information received and stored by an evidence management system. The information captured by equipment assigned to a particular individual may be associated with that individual. An armorer may use information supplied by equipment, evidence management system, officers, or other sources to assist in the assignment process.

Systems and methods for assignment of equipment to an officer

Systems and methods for configuring the operation of recording devices that may be removably mounted to a mount. A mount may provide a unique identifier. The unique identifier may be used to select a configuration profile for configuring the operation of the recording device coupled to the mount. A recording device that is moved from one mount to another may receive a different profile in accordance with the identifier of the new mount to control the operation of the recording device while mounted to the new mount. A server may store, retrieve, and provide profiles to recording devices.
