A treatment system includes an dressing having a decompression layer and an occlusive layer that secures the dressing about a treatment site, and defines a treatment chamber within which the decompression layer is positioned. Operation of an air displacement device fluidly coupled to the chamber causes the decompression layer to compress away from the tissue site, resulting in a pulling force being imparted onto the treatment site. This decompression of the tissue site increases the perfusion of blood and other fluids, and advantageously may reduce swelling at the treatment site. To increase the degree of lifting of the treatment site, the decompression layer is advantageously constructed to exhibit a parallel plate effect during use of the treatment system. For example, the decompression layer is constructed having a center of stiffness located closer to an outwardly-facing surface of the decompression layer than a tissue-facing surface of the decompression layer.

Decompression therapy treatment system

A reduced-pressure system for treating a tissue site on a patient includes a distribution manifold that adheres to a tissue site to allow retention without external support. The distribution manifold includes a porous member and a tissue-fixation element. The tissue-fixation element maintains the porous member substantially adjacent to the tissue site while a sealing member is applied. In one instance, the tissue-fixation element is a soluble adhesive that partially covers either the tissue-facing side of the porous member or a tissue-facing side of a fluid-permeable substrate layer that is on the tissue-facing side of the porous member. Other systems, distributions manifolds, and methods are presented.

Reduced-pressure dressings employing tissue-fixation elements

An apparatus for promoting circulation through a subcutaneous lymph vascular network may comprise a first manifold layer, a second manifold layer coupled to the first manifold layer, and a cover layer coupled to the second manifold layer. The first manifold may have a first stiffness, and the second manifold may have a second stiffness greater than the first stiffness. In some embodiments, the apparatus may additionally have a fluid interface configured to fluidly couple at least one of the first manifold layer and the second manifold layer to a fluid conductor through the cover layer. The fluid conductor may be coupled to or configured to be coupled to a source of negative pressure.

Soft-tissue treatment with negative pressure

A treatment system for applying negative pressure therapy and fluid instillation treatment to a tissue site, particularly an abdominal tissue site, is disclosed. In some embodiments, the treatment system may include a dressing member, a plurality of fluid removal pathways, a fluid instillation matrix, a drape, a negative-pressure source, and a fluid instillation source. Instillation fluid may be delivered from the fluid instillation source to the tissue site through the fluid instillation matrix, and negative pressure may be communicated and fluid withdrawn from the tissue site through the plurality of fluid removal pathways.

Multi-layer abdominal closure dressing with instillation capabilities

An apparatus for applying negative pressure to a tissue site of a patient may include a tissue interface, a cover, an aperture in the cover, and a sealing member. The tissue interface may have an anatomical shape configured to cover the tissue site. The cover may be configured to cover the tissue interface. The aperture in the cover may be fluidly coupled to the tissue interface. The sealing member may be configured to seal the cover to the patient, wherein the cover and the sealing member are configured to cooperate to form a sealed chamber containing the tissue interface. The tissue interface may be coupled to a source of negative pressure, which can be delivered to the tissue interface for distribution to the tissue site. The source of negative pressure may be coupled to the cover of the apparatus.

Negative-pressure treatment with area stabilization

In one example embodiment, an apparatus for providing negative-pressure therapy may comprise a negative-pressure source, a pressure sensor, and a control valve. The negative-pressure source may be configured to be fluidly coupled to a distribution component. The control valve may be fluidly coupled to the pressure sensor and configured to be selectively coupled to the negative-pressure source, the distribution component, or both. A controller may also be configured to operate the control valve to selectively couple the pressure sensor to at least one of the negative-pressure source and the distribution component through the control valve, and the pressure sensor may provide a feedback signal to the controller indicative of pressure in a feedback path associated with the position of the control valve. The controller may also be configured to operate the negative-pressure source based on the feedback signal.

Apparatus, method, and system for controlling negative-pressure treatment

An apparatus for applying negative pressure to a tissue site proximate a patient's foot may include a tissue interface, a sole, a toe box, a cover, and an interface. The tissue interface may be configured to be circumferentially disposed around the tissue site. The sole may be configured to support the tissue interface. The toe box may be coupled to the sole. The cover may be configured to be coupled to the leg and to the sole to cover the tissue interface. The cover and the sole may form a chamber containing the tissue interface and may seal the tissue interface within the chamber. The interface may be configured to fluidly couple the tissue interface to a source of negative pressure, which can be delivered to the tissue interface for distribution to the tissue site.

Provided are systems, dressings, and methods suitable for treating a tissue site, such as an incision or linear wound. The systems, dressings, and methods relate to a dressing assembly that may include a dressing bolster, sealing members that cover the tissue site and contain the dressing bolster, and a dressing attachment device. The dressing assembly also includes a base layer comprising a sealing member and a base attachment device for releasably coupling the base layer to the epidermis, wherein the dressing attachment device that may releasably coupled to the sealing member base layer. The dressing assembly may also include sealing ring that may be adapted to provide a fluid seal around the tissue site, and to absorb fluids from the tissue site. Other systems, apparatuses, and methods are disclosed.

Replaceable dressing and method for viewing a tissue site

A system for treating a deep abdominal wound. The system includes a wound dressing. The wound dressing includes a visceral-protective layer, a compressive layer, and a sealing layer. The visceral-protective layer is configured to be positioned in an open abdomen. The compressive layer is configured to be disposed proximate to the visceral-protective layer. The compressive layer includes a pattern of voids configured for anisotropic collapse of the compressive layer when under negative pressure. The sealing layer is configured to form a sealed space in the open abdomen. A negative pressure source configured to provide negative pressure to the compressive layer.

Abdominal dressing with mechanism for fascial closure

A reduced-pressure abdominal treatment device is presented that has a plurality of liquid-impermeable layers with a foam spacer between two of the liquid-impermeable layers. The plurality of liquid-impermeable layers have a coextensive area A. The foam spacer has a plan-view area A. Ais less than 80% of A(i.e., A&#x3c;0.8 A). The foam spacer is configured such that, under reduced pressure, a target fluid removal zone experiences reduced-pressure vectors over an angle theta (&#x3b8;) that is typically 360 degrees for a majority of locations in the target fluid removal zone. Applying 360 degrees of reduced pressure helps avoid blockage. The plurality of liquid-impermeable layers may be bonded for various effects. Other devices, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Abdominal treatment systems, delivery devices, and methods

Dressings, systems, and methods are disclosed for treating tissue with reduced pressure. A dressing for distributing reduced pressure to a tissue site includes a plurality of liquid-impermeable layers that are stacked and a plurality of spacers disposed at least partially between adjacent liquid-impermeable layers. The plurality of liquid-impermeable layers are fenestrated at least in part. The plurality of spacers and plurality of liquid-impermeable layers form a plurality of flow paths for allowing fluid flow under reduced pressure. Adjacent layers of the plurality of liquid-impermeable layers are stacked without foam between at least a majority of coextensive surfaces. Other dressings, systems, and methods are disclosed.
