An interface for personal communications systems is described which provides rapid identification of a caller and limited access based on a variety of parameters obtained from caller identification information encoded by the telephone company. The incoming telephone call information is compared to a preprogrammed access matrix to determine if the caller is authorized to access the personal communications system connected to the interface. A telephone call screening method and apparatus which incorporates the encoded caller identification is also described.

An illuminator has all of it's electrical components mounted within a housing that is secured to the rotatable object. Those components include a light source, an electrical power source, a first switch activated by intermittent motion of the housing and a second switch activated by centrifugal forces caused by rotation of the rotatable object. The illuminator components also include a timer which has a timing cycle and which is operably connected relative to the first switch and the second switch such that activation of either the first switch or the second switch initiates that timing cycle of the timer and enables the flow of electricity from the power source to the light source during the timing cycle. The light source can include an electro luminescent strip or light emitting diodes. As noted the illuminator can be mounted on a rotatable object, or can be used by wearing on a person, pet or other device to provide a warning or locator light.

Computer-based multifunction personal communication system with caller ID

Using a standard ice auger having a central shaft, a spiral flighting affixed thereon, and an ice cutting blade at the lower end of the flighting, a cylindrical ice hole is bored through an ice sheet. The inventive apparatus, mounted adjacent a lower portion of the standard ice auger, is then used to form an inverted funnel-shaped area at the lower end of the cylindrical ice hole. The inventive apparatus includes a bracket mounted to the ice auger and an ice hole flaring blade pivotally mounted to the bracket. A spring biases the ice hole flaring blade toward a transport position wherein the blade has its free end extending toward an upper end of the ice auger. The ice hole flaring blade is pivotable to an operable position wherein the blade is aligned generally below the ice cutting blade of the auger and has its free end extending downwardly and outwardly from the central shaft of the ice auger. In this operable position, the ice hole flaring blade is aligned to cut an angled cone-shaped face at the bottom edge of the previously formed cylindrical ice hole.

The incoming telephone call information is compared to a preprogrammed access matrix to determine if the caller is authorized to access the modem connected to the interface. A telephone call screening method and apparatus which incorporates the encoded caller identification is also described. Finally, a method and apparatus for a telephone database for statistical accounting is described.
