Systems for reforming a feedstock comprising paraffins and naphthenes. A first reactor containing a first reforming catalyst is operable to maintain a temperature and pressure that facilitates conversion of naphthenes in the feedstock to aromatics while facilitating conversion of less than 50 wt. % of paraffins in the feedstock to olefins. A first separator receives and separates the first effluent that is produced in the first reactor to produce a first fraction enriched in aromatics and a second fraction enriched in paraffins. A second reactor containing a second reforming catalyst is operable to maintain a temperature and pressure that facilitates conversion of at least 50 wt. % of paraffins in the second fraction to olefins. The system is operable to produce a liquid hydrocarbon product suitable for use as a blend component of a liquid transportation fuel.

Selective naphtha reforming systems

A process is disclosed for polishing a relatively highly pure stream of aromatic material bound for use as a petrochemical feedstock wherein the stream includes olefins and especially concerning, diolefins. The process comprises hydrotreating the highly pure aromatic stream with an unsulfided cobalt molybdenum catalyst that has low saturating activity for the aromatic but is active for saturating olefins and diolefins.

Highly selective olefin removal with unsulfided hydrotreating catalysts

Process for reforming a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising paraffins and naphthenes. A hydrocarbon feedstock is separated to produce a first fraction enriched in naphthenes and a second fraction that is enriched in paraffins. The process produces a liquid hydrocarbon reformate product suitable for use as a blend component of a liquid transportation fuel.

Processes for selective naphtha reforming

Process for reforming a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising paraffins and naphthenes. A hydrocarbon feedstock is contacted with a first reforming catalyst in a first reactor at a temperature and pressure that facilitates conversion of naphthenes to aromatics while converting less than 50 wt. % of paraffins in the feedstock to olefins, thereby producing a first effluent that is separated into a first fraction that is enriched in aromatics and a second fraction that is enriched in paraffins. The second fraction is contacted with a second reforming catalyst in a second reactor at a temperature and pressure that converts at least 50 wt. % of paraffins in the second fraction to olefins. The process produces a liquid hydrocarbon reformate product suitable for use as a blend component of a liquid transportation fuel.

Selective naphtha reforming processes

Systems for reforming a hydrocarbon feedstock, where the system is operable to selectively reform different sub-components of the hydrocarbon feedstock using at least two structurally-distinct reforming catalysts. Advantages may include a decreased rate of reforming catalyst deactivation and an increased yield of a liquid hydrocarbon reformate product that is characterized by at least one of an increased octane rating and a decreased vapor pressure compared to the liquid hydrocarbon reformate product of conventional one-step reforming systems.

Systems for selective naphtha reforming

Processes relating to thermal activation (or cracking) of ethane to an intermediate, low purity raw ethylene stream in a first stage. This stream is then mixed with a stream of biomass-derived ethanol that may contain four volume percent or more of water. The resulting mixture is reacted over a suitable catalyst at temperatures and pressures suitable to produce gasoline-range and diesel-range blend stock.

Ethane and ethanol to liquid transportation fuels

A process for converting ethane to liquid fuels may involve directing an ethane stream into an ethane cracking unit to produce an intermediate hydrocarbon stream and a raw ethylene stream; fractionating the intermediate hydrocarbon stream into a gasoline fraction and a diesel fraction; introducing the raw ethylene stream into an oligomerization unit; contacting the raw ethylene stream with an oligomerization catalyst to produce a liquid hydrocarbon stream and an off-gas stream; recycling an off-gas recycle stream from an off-gas stream of the oligomerization unit separation unit to an inlet of the oligomerization reactor; introducing at least part of the off-gas stream into a hydrogenation reactor to remove unconverted olefins; separating a hydrogen component and a plurality of light paraffin components in a post hydrogenation reactor separation unit using a PSA technology or membrane technology; and recycling the light paraffins stream into the ethane cracking unit.

Converting ethane to liquid fuels and chemicals

Converting ethane may include directing a gaseous stream from a gas well into a fractionator for fractionating and producing a post-fractionator ethane stream, which is directed into a thermal activation unit for heating and raising the temperature of the post-fractionator ethane stream thereby creating an activated ethane stream, which is directed into a quench tower thereby creating a quenched stream, which may be converted in a catalytic conversion unit to a mixed product stream containing hydrogen and C-Chydrocarbons; directing the mixed product stream into a first separation unit forming a stream of C+ hydrocarbon product and a stream of C-Chydrocarbons; directing the stream of C-Chydrocarbons into a catalytic hydrogenation reactor thereby imparting hydrogen into a post-hydrogenation reactor stream, which is directed directly into a second separation unit thereby creating a light hydrocarbons recycle stream, which may be recycled into the thermal activation unit, and a hydrogen and methane stream.

Systems for converting ethane and ethanol to liquid transportation fuels

Methods relating to methods for producing a needle coke precursor from slurry oil having low levels of nitrogen and sulfur. Nitrogen-containing compounds are removed by chromatography, followed by hydrotreating at relatively mild conditions that focus on the more easily-removed sulfur-containing compounds while largely preserving aromatic content of the slurry oil. The resulting needle coke precursor can be converted to a premium needle coke in a delayed coking system.

Slurry oil upgrading while preserving aromatic content

A method of upgrading naphtha and diesel yields from fluid catalytic cracking and hydrocracking units by improving a feed quality of a petroleum feedstock, product or fraction mixture. The method of improving the feed quality of the petroleum feedstock, product or fraction mixture occurs by first determining the API Gravity of a petroleum feedstock, product or fraction mixture. A temperature at which about fifty percent of the petroleum feedstock, product or fraction boils (T) is then determined. The feed quality for the petroleum feedstock, product or fraction mixture as determined from the API Gravity and the Tfor the feedstock, product or fraction mixture is then estimated followed by adjusting the petroleum feedstock, product or fraction mixture to achieve a higher feed quality.

Methodology to determine feed quality (di+ring aromatic content) of FCC and hydrocracking feeds

A process of producing a light oil stream from slurry oils. The process begins by obtaining slurry oil from a fluid catalytic cracking unit. The slurry oil is then flowed over a fixed bed catalyst, consisting essentially of a non-metal catalyst, to produce a processed slurry oil. The processed slurry oil is then separated by boiling point to separate out the light oil stream.
