Fuel composition comprising: (a) a base fuel suitable for use in an internal combustion engine; (b) a tetraalkylethane compound having the formula (I): wherein Ar represents an aryl group and each X is independently selected from a hydrogen atom, substituted or unsubstituted, straight chain or branched C-Calkyl group, (CH)OH or (CH)NH, wherein n is in the range of 1 to 9, provided that at least one of the X groups in each CXgroup is a hydrogen atom. The fuel composition of the present invention provides improved power and acceleration benefits, as well as increased flame speed and burn duration.

Fuel compositions

A fuel composition comprising a base fuel and at least one viscosity index (VI) improving additive, wherein the viscosity index (VI) improving additive is a functionalized dispersant olefin copolymer. The viscosity index (VI) improving additive provides improved power output and/or acceleration characteristics.

Use of a wax anti-settling agent (WASA), in an automotive fuel composition, for the purpose of improving the acceleration performance of an internal combustion engine into which the fuel composition is or is intended to be introduced or of a vehicle powered by such an engine.

Use of a wax anti-settling additive in automotive fuel compositions

A trunk piston marine engine lubricant comprises in respective minor amounts (A) an overbased metal hydrocarbyl-substituted hydroxybenzoate detergent system, and (B) a hydrocarbyl-substituted succinic acid anhydride made by halogen- or radical-assisted functionalization processes, where the ratio of succinic anhydride to hydrocarbyl chains is in the range of 1.4 to 4. The lubricant, when used to lubricate such an engine fuelled by heavy fuel oil, exhibits improved control of asphaltene precipitation and deposition on engine surfaces.

Lubricating oil compositions containing sterically hindered amines as ashless TBN sources

Compositions in the form of lubricating oil compositions, greases, fuels or functional fluids containing, in the form of Michael adducts, N-substituted phenylenediamine additives in which at least one of the substituents on the N atoms carries a carbonyl group that is connected to an alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, or alkylthioalkyl group either directly or via an oxygen atom.

A lubricating oil composition having a total base number of more than 15 mg KOH/g including oil of lubricating viscosity; detergent; and at least one compound of the formula (I) and/or formula (II): wherein Ar and Ar' represent substituted or unsubstituted aromatic moieties; L and L&#x2032; are linking moieties; each Y is independently &#x2014;ORor H(O(CR))X&#x2014;, wherein X is (CR), O or S; Rand Rare H, alkyl or aryl; Ris alkyl or aryl; each Y&#x2032; is independently Z(O(CR))X&#x2032;&#x2014;, wherein X&#x2032; is (CR), O or S; Rand Rare H, alkyl or aryl; Z is H, acyl, alkyl or aryl; z and z&#x2032; are 1 to 10; n is 0 to 10 when X is (CR)and 2 to 10 when X is O or S; n&#x2032; is 0 to 10 when X&#x2032; is (CR), and 2 to 10 when X&#x2032; is O or S; y and y&#x2032; are 1 to 30; a and a&#x2032; are 0 to 3; and m and m&#x2032; are 1 to 100, with the proviso that in compounds of formula (I), at least one Ar moiety bears at least one group Y and that in compounds of formula (II), at least one Ar&#x2032; moiety bears at least one group Y&#x2032; in wherein Z is not H.
