There is provided an alignment material for a liquid crystal (LC) lens comprising a co-polymer of a photosensitive monomer and at least one alkyl methacrylate monomer. The material allows for the fabrication of a LC lens or LC lens system that is self-aligned and polarization-independent.

A method of increasing wear resistance of one or more part(s) of a rotating mechanism includes manufacturing the one or more part(s) with a portion thereof configured to be exposed to wear during fluid flow associated with the rotating mechanism having a dimension different from that of a desired dimension, applying a protective coating of an aluminum bronze alloy to the portion through welding deposition, and mechanically treating the protective coating. The method also includes applying one or more layer(s) of solid-alloy over the protective coating through electro-erosion deposition, and continuing the mechanical treatment of the protective coating and/or the one or more layer(s) of solid-alloy after the solid-alloy deposition to obtain the desired dimension of the portion.

Method and system of increasing wear resistance of a part of a rotating mechanism exposed to fluid flow therethrough

A light pen for writing on a polarized light sensitive surface is disclosed. Light emitting diodes emit non-polarized light and a polarization block comprising of a truncated cone shaped collimating optical element, a broad band polarization divider, a broadband semi-wave plate, shifting bi-prism and light beam coupler are built to convert the non-polarized light to be converted to polarized uniform intensity light that is focused using a set of projection lens to a writing surface. The said light pen can be used for creating non erasable writing on many types of articles, documents, and records that would provide verification of authenticity and security.

A method includes providing a capability to control divergence of a coherent light beam having an axially symmetrical distribution of intensity thereof through an optical divergence controller, and directing an output of the optical divergence controller related to the controlled divergence of the coherent light beam onto a glass prism. The glass prism includes a planar shape onto which a pyramidal structure is formed. The method also includes controlling a distance between maxima of an output light field of the glass prism and intensity thereof through controlling the divergence of the coherent light beam through the optical divergence controller and/or varying a distance between the optical divergence controller and the glass prism, and utilizing the output light field of the glass prism in controlling microparticles in a microtechnology or a nanotechnology application.

Disclosed is a system or method for efficiently manufacturing construction materials using carbon nanomaterials. In one or more embodiments, the method comprises creating a blend of carbon nanomaterials, wherein the blend of the carbon nanomaterials includes at least one of a carbon nanofiber, a carbon nanotube, a graphite nanoparticle and an amorphous carbon. The method also includes dispersing the carbon nanomaterials and adding a plasticizer and a sand to the dispersed mixture within 3 minutes. The method also includes adding at least one of water and a cement binding agent to the dispersed mixture after the plasticizer and the sand have been added.

Disclosed is a system or method of increased efficiency in carbon nanomaterial synthesis. In one embodiment, a system or method of automated collection of deposited carbon nanomaterial is disclosed. According to one or more embodiments, a method of automated collection of deposited nanomaterial may comprise using cleaner blades to clean the wall of a deposition chamber and the surface of a central body where carbon nanomaterial has been deposited. The method of automated carbon nanomaterial collection may be used in connection with a method of carbon nanomaterial synthesis, to create a more efficient synthesis process.
