A method and an apparatus for washing a solids-containing suspension by means of a suction drum washer comprising a drum provided with a filtration surface, a main vacuum source such as a drop leg and washing tubes connected to the frame of the suction drum washer. A washing liquid stream is introduced by a first washing tube is directed to contact the pulp layer on the surface of the drum in a point below 10 degrees after the surface of the suspension and a vacuum of at least 0.1 bar greater than the main vacuum source, i.e. intensified suction is applied by means of a separate vacuum source to filtering surface at the contacting point of the first liquid stream and the pulp layer or maximum of 10 degrees before the contacting point. The intensified suction may be utilized also for boosting end of filtration stage (II) and drying stage (IV). Filtrate from the drying stage (IV) can be used at the same washer as a washing liquid at the first or the second washing tube.

Method and apparatus for washing pulp by means of intensified suction

A method for measuring and aligning a rotary cylindrical or other rotationally symmetrical apparatus, such as a kiln or a drum. The apparatus to be measured and aligned has a shell and at least one supporting ring. As the rotary apparatus is rotating under process conditions, measurement points are measured on the surface of the rotating object's shell in the axial direction on both sides of each supporting ring on the same circumferential line. Regression circles are calculated from the measured points, center points are determined for the calculated circles and a straight line and its center point are determined between the center points of the circles calculated on both sides of each supporting ring. A reference straight line is calculated for the center line of the shell and the object's shell is aligned to be straight by transferring the determined center points of the shell to the calculated reference line.

Method for measuring and aligning a rotary cylindrical apparatus

A filter press for the thickening of cellulose pulp or sludge in which the filter press is furnished with a feedbox to lead the sludge suspension to the wire. In order to increase the capacity of filter presses or the like, the sludge to be dried can be fed through a feedbox in accordance with the invention, in which box there is at least one surface penetrating the liquid to facilitate thickening of the sludge suspension before it is lead to the filter press wire.

A filter press having a main press with an after-pressing device spaced from the outlet end of the main press which device carries out the final pressing and is composed of at least two press roll pairs (1,2), made up of rolls (3,4,5,6) between which the wires (7,8) belonging to the main press pass with the pulp (9) being filter pressed interposed between the wires and pressed by action of a pressing force (F) directed against the topside rollers (3,5) of the press roll pairs and produced by a force applicator such as a pressure cylinder (10). The pressure ratio (F.sub.1 /F.sub.2) between the topside rollers (3,4) and the bottom side rollers (5,6) is adjustable by the aid of a control setup.

Filter press

Procedure and apparatus for the washing of cellulose in the form of a continuous web. The continuous web produced in a concentrating zone is washed in a washing zone comprising between 2 and 6 washing steps, so that into the web pressurized washing liquid is introduced according to the counter-current principle to the purpose of displacing the suspension liquid contained in the web, using one pumping operation for transporting the washing liquid through a plurality of washing steps.
