A mixer and a method therein, including feeding a rotating flow of exhaust gas in a mixing pipe towards a turning end of a mixing chamber; dosing reactant by a doser against the rotating flow around a centreline of the mixing pipe; maintaining a guide around the doser such that a front face of the guide faces the rotating flow, and the guide defines a central opening surrounding the doser; guiding a side flow out of the rotating flow to a carrier flow around the doser via the central opening; and inhibiting by the guide turbulence from being transferred from the side flow to the carrier flow.

Counter-flow reactant mixing for exhaust gas aftertreatment

A method, flow device and system for method of guiding a flow of exhaust gas for aftertreatment, including receiving exhaust gas into a mixing chamber; supporting a mixing tube mostly in the mixing chamber obliquely to and extending through a peripheral wall of the mixing chamber; supporting by a reactant doser mount a reactant doser that doses reactant to the mixing tube; receiving, by a peripheral exhaust gas entry in the mixing tube, exhaust gas at reactant stream arriving from the doser; and forming by a swirl arrangement, a rotating flow around a mixing tube output and enhancing exhaust gas flow through the mixing tube by forming some pressure around the mixing tube downstream from the peripheral exhaust gas entry.

Mixer arrangement and a method of mixing for after-treatment of exhaust gas

An apparatus for aftertreatment of exhaust gas including a housing having a longitudinal axis that extends between a first end and a second end of the housing; an exhaust inlet being positioned at a portion of the first end of the housing for entering exhaust gas flow into the interior of the housing; a first substrate being positioned within the interior of the housing downstream to the exhaust inlet, wherein the exhaust gas flow being configured to flow through the first substrate in direction of the longitudinal axis; mixer arrangement being positioned within the interior of the housing downstream to the first substrate and including: first flow guide arrangement configured to guide the exhaust gas flow to rotating and advancing gas flow in direction of a crosswise axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis; a reactant inlet for dispensing reactant to the rotating and advancing gas flow, the reactant configured to mix with the exhaust gas; and second flow guide arrangement configured to guide the rotating and advancing mixed gas flow in direction of the longitudinal axis as a mixed exhaust gas flow; and a second substrate being positioned within the interior of the housing downstream to the mixer arrangement, wherein the mixed exhaust gas flow being configured to flow through the second substrate in direction of the longitudinal axis.

Method, apparatus and system for aftertreatment of exhaust gas comprising inline housing

An apparatus for aftertreatment of exhaust gas includes a housing configured to define an inner cavity; an exhaust inlet arranged to the housing for entering exhaust gas flow to the inner cavity; a mixer unit arranged in the inner cavity to dispense a reactant to the exhaust gas flow; a mixing device, located downstream of the mixer unit, to evenly mix the reactant to the exhaust gas flow. The mixing device includes: a toroidal cylinder to receive the exhaust gas flow from the mixer unit via a solid tubular element, wherein the solid tubular element is in a centric manner to a first base of the toroidal cylinder for guiding the exhaust gas flow led into the toroidal cylinder to swirl inside the toroidal cylinder; and an exhaust outlet arranged to a curved side of the toroidal cylinder, to exit the exhaust gas flow from the mixing device.

Method, apparatus and mixing device for evenly mixing reactant to exhaust gas flow

An apparatus for aftertreatment of exhaust gas includes a housing an exhaust inlet, a first flow guide to guide at least part of exhaust gas to a first direction to form a first direction flow, and a reactant inlet for dispensing reactant to the first direction flow in an inner cavity to mix with the exhaust gas to provide a mixed exhaust gas. A second flow guide guides at least a part of the first direction flow to a second direction to form a second direction flow opposite to the first direction, and guide the second direction flow to a third direction to form a third direction flow downstream to the second direction and parallel to the first direction. An exhaust outlet exits output exhaust gas from the inner cavity; mixing of the reactant and the exhaust gas occurring within the first, second and third direction flow.

Method, apparatus and system for aftertreatment of exhaust gas

The aftertreatment device has a casing (), which has an inlet opening () for the inflow of the exhaust gas, an outlet opening () for the outflow of the exhaust gas and a feed hole () for dispensing reactive substance to the casing. The reactive substance can be for example fuel, ammonium or urea/water solution. As an extension of the outlet opening there is a mixing tube () directed outwards from the casing for mixing the exhaust gas and the reactive substance. Inside the casing there is a feeding channel () for guiding the exhaust gas to the mixing tube. The feeding channel has an open first end extending to the outlet opening, the cross-sectional area of which first end is smaller than the cross-sectional area of the outlet opening. The wall () of the feeding channel has holes () for the inflow of the exhaust gas. Preferably, the wall of the feeding channel has at least along a part of its length a conical shape. The second end of the feeding channel can be connected to the end wall of the casing, whereby the exhaust gas can flow into the feeding channel only through the holes in the wall of the feeding channel. The exhaust gas can flow to the mixing tube through the feeding channel as well as through the annular slot around the first end of the feeding channel. The exhaust gas flowing through the feeding channel forms a center flow to the mixing tube and the exhaust gas flowing through the slot surrounding the feeding channel forms an edge flow surrounding and rotating around the center flow.
