Embodiments include methods implemented in a wireless device for efficient energy consumption at the wireless device. In one embodiment, a method comprises performing an uplink transmission on pre-configured resources to a network node; and monitoring in a search space (SS) window for an application layer response from a network node downlink transmission based on an offset value indicating a time difference between the SS window and the uplink transmission on the pre-configured resources.

Configurable starting position of search space window for uplink transmission on pre-configured resources

Techniques for facilitating dedicated transmissions over preconfigured uplink resources. Embodiments include techniques to configure subsequent PUR resource utilization (e.g., one-at-a-time basis or on a periodic basis), changes to EDT signaling to allow functioning with PUR, etc. An example method performed by a wireless device configured for use in a wireless communication network includes transmitting (), in an uplink message, a request for a configuration of preconfigured uplink resources. The method further includes receiving (), during a connected mode in which the wireless device has a connection with the wireless communication network, control signaling indicating a first preconfigured resource configuration that configures a first preconfigured resource. The method also includes transmitting or receiving () user data using the first preconfigured resource.

Support for transmission in preconfigured UL resources

A method performed by a wireless device, UE, for configuring a semi-persistent scheduling, SPS is described. In accordance with the method, the UE may be configured to monitor a first search space of a physical downlink control channel for downlink control information, DCI, dedicated to the UE. The method may include receiving from the communication network SPS configuration data to configure a second search space to be monitored by the UE for DCI to activate or de-activate the SPS, the second search space being smaller than the first search space, and monitoring the second search space to detect the DCI to activate or de-activate the SPS. A corresponding method may be performed by a network node.

Activation and de-activation of semi-persistent scheduling

A method for cell reselection by a non-Bandwidth reduced Low complexity (non-BL) wireless device camped in a standalone-cell providing enhanced coverage to the wireless device. The method includes determining, based on a respective signal strength of each of a plurality of cells, a first ranking of the plurality of cells. The plurality of cells include at least the standalone cell and a target cell. While the non-BL wireless device is camped in the standalone cell with enhanced coverage, the non-BL wireless device determines that at least one criteria is met for a cell reselection from the standalone cell to the target cell offering normal coverage to the non-BL wireless device. The non-BL wireless device selects the target cell to camp in whether or not the target cell ranks higher than the standalone cell in the first ranking.

Cell reselection in LTE-M standalone cells

A wireless device determines whether to provide a reduced capability, RedCap, indication via a message 1 of a random access procedure. The wireless device transmits the message 1 based on the determination, and transmits a message 3 of the random access procedure. A RedCap indication is provided via the message 3 at least if a RedCap indication is not provided via the message 1. According to some embodiments, the wireless device receives an indication whether the wireless device is to provide a RedCap indication via the message 1, and the determination is based on the received indication. According to some embodiments, the indication whether the wireless device is to provide a RedCap indication via the message 1 is provided by whether a physical random access channel, PRACH, partition between RedCap wireless devices and other wireless devices is configured.

HARQ RTT timer adjustment for multi-TB scheduling

Methods of operating a wireless device in a communication network are provided. Such methods include receiving a scheduling message that includes a schedule identifying a plurality of transmission blocks, TBs and determining a quantity of the plurality of TBs that are identified in the scheduling message. Methods may include determining a quantity of Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request Acknowledgement, HARQ ACKs in an ACK bundle identified in the scheduling message and dynamically generating an acknowledgement timer value that corresponds to the quantity of the plurality of TBs and the quantity of HARQ ACKs in the ACK bundle.

A method of operating a user equipment, UE, that is operating in a network includes determining whether the UE and/or an application that is running on the UE is using or planning to use an early data transmission, EDT, to transmit sensor data via the network. Operations include responsive to determining that the UE and/or the application that is running on the UE is using or planning to use the EDT, informing the application of configuration parameters corresponding to the EDT and altering, by the application and based on the configuration parameters corresponding to the EDT, properties of the sensor data that is provided to the UE for transmission to the network to include revised sensor data.

Sensor-data batching for efficient early data

A wireless device receives a downlink message from a network node. The wireless device descrambles or decrypts the downlink message, or one or more fields of the downlink message, to obtain one or more parameters. The wireless device uses the one or more parameters to perform at least one action from any one or more of the following actions: receiving a mobile-terminated, MT, early data transmission, EDT, during a random access procedure; positively or negatively acknowledging the MT-EDT; and receiving a re-transmission of the MT-EDT.

Early transmission of mobile-terminated data

There is provided a method for improving early data transmission (EDT). The method includes transmitting first transport block size (TBS) information indicating a first set of one or more EDT TBSs. The method further includes after transmitting the first TBS information, obtaining EDT usage information and based on the obtained EDT usage information, determining whether to transmit the first TBS information or second TBS information indicating a second set of one or more EDT TBSs. The method further includes transmitting the first TBS information or the second TBS information based on the determination.

Optimization for early data transmission (EDT)

A method of operating a wireless terminal may include transmitting a random access preamble of a random access procedure from the wireless terminal to a node of a radio access network. After transmitting the random access preamble, a random access response of the random access procedure may be received from the node of the radio access network, with the random access response including an Uplink grant for a Message 3 uplink communication of the random access procedure. The UL grant may include a time domain configuration associated with the Message 3 uplink communication. The time domain configuration may include a repetition factor that defines a number of repetitions across subframes for the Message 3 uplink communication, and/or Transmission Time Interval information for the Message 3 uplink communication. Related wireless terminals and base stations are also discussed.

Methods providing UL grants including time domain configuration and related wireless terminals and network nodes

The present disclosure relates to telecommunications. In one of its aspects, the disclosure concerns a method, performed by a User Equipment (UE), in a communications network. The method comprises receiving a broadcast from a base station. The broadcast comprises an indication indicating whether the UE is allowed to use a preconfigured resource configuration associated with the UE. The method further comprises determining, based on the indication in the broadcast, whether the UE is allowed to use the preconfigured resource configuration.

Methods and nodes for communication using preconfigured resource configurations

A wireless communication device () conditions its use of Preconfigured Uplink Resources (PUR), as preconfigured by a wireless communication network (), on assessing the validity of a Timing Advance (TA) value used by the device () for controlling its uplink transmission timing. The device () maintains a timer () and deems the TA value to be invalid upon expiration of the timer (). In an example case, a device () operating in idle mode performs a PUR-based transmission in dependence on the timer () not being expired. A radio network node () of the network () maintains a like timer (), to maintain an awareness of TA validity at the device () and, for example, sends an updated TA for the device () upon receiving a PUR-based transmission from the device (). The device () and the node () may refresh their respective timers, in association with the TA update.

Methods and apparatuses for using preconfigured uplink resources in a wireless communication network

Methods of operating a network node in a communication network are provided. Operations according to such methods include receiving a transmission that is sent by a user equipment, UE, and that is received over a preconfigured uplink resource, PUR and selecting one or more transmission types for indicating feedback corresponding to the received transmission conditioned to having been successfully received.

Methods and devices for managing transmissions in a wireless communications network

A wireless device is configured for use in a wireless communication system. The wireless device is configured to transmit signaling indicating whether or not the wireless device is capable of receiving user data during a random access procedure. The signaling may for instance indicate whether or not the wireless device is capable of receiving user data over a user plane during a random access procedure, e.g., by indicating whether or not the wireless device supports early data for cellular internet of things, CIoT, Evolved Packet System, EPS, user plane (UP) optimization.
