When operating a brain stimulation device, it is critical to understand and control the network effects associated with the area being targeted for stimulation. The combined system and methods provided herein provides the operator with a real-time view of the brain network potentially affected by the stimulation. The system and method are capable of increasing the accuracy of diagnostic information. Additionally, disclosed herein are a system and method for combining navigated brain stimulation data and anatomical data with brain connectivity data for an individual.

It is an aspect of the present invention to provide a method for recording a response to Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) utilizing a bi-phasic double pulse pair from a TMS coil device to stimulate a subject wherein the second pulse has a lower amplitude compared to the first pulse in the bi-phasic double pulse pair. Significant advantages are achieved using bi-phasic double pulse pairs, particularly where the second pulse in a pair has an intensity lower than the first. Obtaining measurements is simpler and more accurate as the number and intensity of stimulation can be reduced compared to standard single pulse stimulation.

Bi-phasic paired pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation

A system for facilitating administration of transcranial stimulation. The system includes an electrode, the electrode including a counterpart configured to be attached to a headcap, a gel cup configured to be attached to the counterpart, an electrical conductor configured to be disposed within an interior space of the gel cup, and a gel pad. The gel pad is arranged to be in contact with the electrical conductor. Further, system includes a distributor, which includes at least one inlet for an aqueous solution, as well as a plurality of outlets in a fluid communication with the at least one inlet. Further, the plurality of outlets are configured to direct the aqueous solution towards the gel pad.

The present invention relates to the field of mapping cognitive brain functions, more specifically to non-invasive systems for and methods of cognitive mapping. Examples of cognitive brain function which can reliably be mapped according to embodiments of the present invention are speech, language, working-memory and decision-making. According to certain embodiments, navigated Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is utilized along with accurate baseline determination in order to provide accurate, non-invasive cognitive mapping.

A system for transcranial stimulation of a head region of a subject includes an electrode arrangement having a plurality of electrodes coupled to an electrode drive arrangement. The electrodes are operable to contact onto a scalp of the head region of the subject and the drive arrangement is operable to generate electrical signals for driving the plurality of electrodes to cause transcranial stimulation of the head region of the subject. The system further includes a monitoring arrangement for monitoring spatial positions of the plurality of electrodes relative to the head region of the subject, and for indicating positional errors of the electrodes for enabling repositioning of the electrodes and/or a change in the electrical signals applied to the electrodes, for providing improved transcranial stimulation of the head region of the subject and/or mutual relative positions of the plurality of electrodes.
