An accessory () is provided for a mobile device () to measure characteristics of a test strip (). The accessory () includes a test strip adapter (), a phone adapter (), and a coupler (). The test strip adapter () includes a test strip attachment for a test strip type and a first interlock shared with other test strip adapters for other test strip types. The phone adapter () includes a phone attachment for a mobile device model and a second interlock shared with other phone adapters for other mobile device models. The coupler () includes a third interlock that forms a first mating pair with the first interlock of the test strip adapter (), and a fourth interlock that forms a second mating pair with the second interlock of the phone adapter ().

Method and apparatus for improving usability and accuracy for physiological measurement on mobile device

An example peripheral device to be placed over an image sensor and a light source of a portable computing device to assist the portable computing device in reading a reaction area on a test strip in the peripheral device is disclosed. The peripheral device includes a light guide to direct light from the light source to the test strip, and an alignment feature to aid placement of the peripheral device relative to the image sensor and the light source on the portable computing device.

Method and apparatus for analyte measurement

A method for a mobile computing device with a camera and a screen to measure a test strip in a test strip module includes, in a calibration phase before a sample is introduced to a reaction area on the test strip, detecting with the camera an ambient light effect when the test strip module is mounted on the face of the mobile computing device. A method is provided for a portable computing device to read a reaction area on a test strip, which is located in a peripheral device placed over an image sensor and a light source of the portable computing device. Light is provided with the light source, which the peripheral device directs to the reaction area. An image including the reaction area is captured with the image sensor. An analyte characteristic is determined based on a color of the captured reaction area in the image.

A test strip module includes a case, a test strip in the case, and a position anchor extending down past a mating surface to a face of a mobile computing device. The position anchor has a shape matching a feature on the face of the mobile computing device.

A method is provided for a computing device with an imaging device to read a specimen test strip. A method is provided for a computing device with an imaging device to detect a characteristic of an analyte in a specimen sample from a specimen test strip with reaction areas that have colors based on the characteristic of the analyte in different ranges of values. The method includes capturing images of the specimen test strip under different exposures or light intensities, selecting an image comprising captured reaction areas that have a proper exposure or a proper lighting intensity from the images, selecting a captured reaction area from the image, and correlating a color of the captured reaction area to a value of the characteristic of the analyte.

Reading test strip with multiple reaction areas under different exposures or light intensities

A specimen test strip is provided to detect a characteristic of an analyte in a specimen sample. The specimen test strip includes a reaction area to receive the specimen sample and a color calibration area to determine a color, or a color and a color intensity, of the reaction area after receiving the specimen sample. The specimen test strip may further include a temperature indication area to correct a measurement of the characteristic of analyte.
