Disclosed is a complementary-material element () attachable to a base plate () of an ostomy appliance () and including a first entity () and a second entity (). The entities comprise different material compositions. The material composition of the second entity comprises a neutralizer which is released from the complementary-material element in response to moisture, thereby neutralizing the damaging effects of stomal output.

An adhesive dressing for application to the skin or a wound, the dressing comprising a backing layer having a skin facing surface and a non-skin facing surface, the skin facing surface being provided with substantially parallel adhesive lanes arranged with a distance in between such that the adhesive lanes are spaced from each other's by a portion of uncoated backing layer. The configuration of the dressing provides improved flexibility and permeability of the dressing.

A pressure sensitive adhesive composition includes 4-15 w/w % styrene-isoprene-styrene copolymer, 20-35 w/w % styrene-isoprene diblock copolymer, 4-15 w/w % tackifier, 6-18 w/w % paraffin oil, and 30-45 w/w % hydrocolloid. The size of the hydrocolloid is below 40 &#x3bc;m.
