A method of forming a copolymer is provided, which includes (i) mixing a diamine and a diester to form a mixture, and heating the mixture to form a diamine compound, wherein the diamine compound has a chemical structure of (ii) mixing the diamine compound and a diacid to form a diamine-diacid salt, wherein the diamine-diacid salt has a chemical structure of and (iii) heating the diamine-diacid salt to polymerize the diamine-diacid salt for forming a copolymer, wherein the copolymer has a repeating unit with a chemical structure of wherein n=2-12, R is and m=2-12.

Diamine-diacid salt, copolymer and method for manufacturing the same

A copolymer, and a method for preparing a monomer used to form the copolymer are provided. The copolymer is a reaction product of a first monomer and a second monomer. In particular, the first monomer has a structure represented by Formula (I), and the second monomer has a structure represented by Formula (II), Formula (III), or Formula (IV)  n is a positive integer from 2 to 10; and, l is a positive integer from 1 to 5.

A superabsorbent polymer network formed of two monomers and two crosslinkers. The monomers and the crosslinkers are described herein. Further, a method for preparing this superabsorbent polymer network is disclosed. Also disclosed is a method of determining a ratio between two monomeric moieties in a superabsorbent polymer network formed of two monomers.

In one embodiment of the disclosure, a composite raw material and a method for forming the same are provided. The method includes sulfonating a polycyclic aromatic compound to form a polycyclic aromatic carbon sulfonate (PCAS); and mixing the polycyclic aromatic carbon sulfonate and a polyacrylonitrile (PAN) to form a composite raw material. In another embodiment of the disclosure, a carbon fiber containing the composite raw material described above and a method for forming the same are provided.

In one embodiment of the disclosure, a copolymer and method for manufacturing the same are provided. The copolymer is copolymerized from a composition including: (a) a first hydrophilic monomer, including itaconamic acid, itaconamic salt, or combinations thereof; and (b) a second hydrophilic monomer, including acrylic acid, acrylic salt, acrylamide, or combinations thereof.

A precursor raw material for the PAN-based carbon fibers represented by Formula (I) is provided.  In Formula (I), R is methyl, ethyl or propyl, x+z=0.5-20.0 mol %, z&#x2267;0.5 mol %, y=99.5-80.0 mol % and x+y+z=100 mol %. The invention also provides a PAN-based oxidized fiber and a PAN-based carbon fiber prepared by the precursor raw material for the PAN-based carbon fibers.

The method further adds the second compound and the lactide, wherein the second compound and the lactide have a total weight less than the first compound, the second compound and the lactide in the prior mixing step. Aliphatic copolyesters and method of preparing the same

A phosphine-based polymer having Formula (I) is provided. The invention also provides a poly(lactic acid) material including poly(lactic acid) and the disclosed phosphine-based polymer, wherein the phosphine-based polymer has a weight ratio of 0.05-10 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the poly(lactic acid).

Free radical polymerization process for preparing polymers with low polydispersity index and polymers obtained thereby. The process includes polymerizing at least one reactive monomer with at least one initiator and at least one ionic liquid (serving as solvent) to obtain polymers having a low polydispersity index of less than 1.5, wherein the reactive monomer is a nitrogen-containing monomer. A method for preparing a nylon 6 copolymer containing dimeric acid comonomers. The method includes reacting 80.0&tilde;99.9 mol % of caprolactam, 0.1&tilde;3.0 mol % of dimeric acid and 0.1&tilde;3.0 mol % of 2-methyl-1,5-pentadiamine in a polymerization reaction. Moreover, the invention provides a method for preparing a nylon 66 copolymer containing dimeric acid comonomers, which comprising reacting 60.0&tilde;90 mol % of hexadiacid and hexadiamine, 0.1&tilde;3.0 mol % of dimeric acid and 0.1-3.0 mol % of 2-methyl-1,5-pentadiamine in a polymerization reaction. The reaction temperature for both of the methods are at 200&tilde;280&deg; C.

Nylon copolymers containing dimeric acid comonomers

A method for preparing nylon 6 copolymer containing 5-sulfoisophthalate salts comonomer. The method includes the steps of reacting 5-sulfoisophthalate salts ester with aliphatic diamine in a molar ratio of 2&tilde;20 at 160&tilde;200&deg; C., followed by completely removing the unreacted aliphatic diamine, to obtain the intermediate compound with terminal amine, 5-sulfobenzenediamide compound (formula III). Next, caprolactam and aliphatic diacid (formula IV) are reacted at 200&tilde;260&deg; C. to form an oligomer with a low molecular weight. 5-Sulfobenzenediamide (formula III) and catalyst are then added into the oligomer obtained in previous step to cause a polymerization reaction at 200&tilde;280&deg; C. to obtain nylon 6 copolymer containing 5-sulfoisophthalate salt comonomer. The molar ratio of E/C is 0.005&tilde;0.150 and the molar ratio of D/E is 1.05-1.00. Compounds present in the water extract are greatly reduced.
