A power adaptor system may comprise a power source supplying input voltage according to a dynamic power rating to an operably connected host information handling system, a power source identification (PSID) module of the power adaptor receiving an adjustable setting voltage from the power source via a setting voltage port of the PSID module, and a controller of the PSID module executing code instructions to select the dynamic power rating for the power source based on a measurement of the adjustable setting voltage indicating an operating condition of the power adaptor or based on an indication of an operating condition the operably connected host information handling system, wherein the dynamic power rating is one of a plurality of dynamic power ratings in including an adjustable range of power levels at each dynamic power rating at which the power source is capable of operating.

System and method for dynamically identifying a power adaptor power rating based on operating conditions

A computer-implemented method extends the time until the battery reaches an over-discharged state of an information handling system during storage. The method comprises determining if a first battery parameter is outside an associated first battery parameter specification. When the first battery parameter is outside the associated first battery parameter specification, a power management controller isolates the battery by turning off a charge/discharge field effect transistor. The method also includes determining if the first battery parameter is outside an associated second battery parameter specification. In response to the first battery parameter being outside the associated second battery parameter specification, the power management controller is triggered to enter a minimum power state to further reduce power consumption from the battery.

Battery management system and method for extending time until a battery reaches an over-discharged state during storage of an information handling system

A system and method for performing an intelligent power dongle operation for information handling systems having a serial bus power connection such as a USB type-C power connection. In certain embodiments, the intelligent power dongle includes hardware and firmware to read a legacy adapter PSID information and convert the information to serial information such as USB Type-C baseboard management controller BMC compliant data. In certain embodiments the intelligent power dongle includes power management circuitry the allow selection and proper switching between a low voltage power mode (e.g., a 5V power mode) and a higher voltage power mode (e.g., a 19.5V power mode) depending on a device attached to the intelligent power dongle. In certain embodiments, the intelligent power dongle may be used to power low voltage devices (e.g., devices powered by 5V).

A system and method of operating an automatic variable voltage transient response management system comprising a switchable power regulator circuit for receiving an input voltage and generating a plurality of output voltages for an information handling system the switchable power regulator circuit including a feedback loop for an adaptable error amplifier circuit, and a memory for storing a control circuit resistance table wherein each of the plurality of output voltages are associated in the control circuit resistance table with one of a plurality of total control circuit resistance values to adapt the error amplifier circuit feedback gain, and a digital core processor executing code instructions of the automatic variable voltage transient response management system to determine a requested regulated output voltage, identify one of the plurality of the total control circuit resistances associated with the requested regulated output voltage of the plurality of output voltages in the controller resistance table, and to activate an adaptable resistance control circuit to apply the identified total control circuit resistance.

System and method for automatically and adaptively enhancing transient response for a plurality of output voltages

Systems and methods for enhancing peak power capability and hold-up time in a resonant converter having a LLC topology may include a couple choke transformer circuit that may control an inductance of the couple choke transformer circuit and improve power efficiency of the resonant converter. The resonant converter may also include a resonant tank circuit that may provide improved peak power delivery of the resonant converter. The resonant converter may further include a resonant tank control circuit to control the resonant tank circuit and may increase the peak gain of the resonant converter, increase a voltage range of the input voltage, and extend a hold-up time of the input voltage when an AC power failure occurs.

A zero voltage switching method for a flyback converter featuring a transformer with first and second primary windings and corresponding turns ratios, N1 and N2, includes rectifying and filtering an AC signal to produce a primary DC voltage. A voltage level signal indicating whether the primary DC voltage falls within a particular voltage range is generated. The voltage level signal is used to select a particular primary winding from either the first primary winding or the second primary winding. A PWM controller corresponding to the particular primary winding is activated and an output of the particular PWM controller performs zero voltage switching of a gate terminal of the applicable main switching transistor. A duty cycle of the main switching transistor is maintained within a range of approximately 50% to approximately 60% in accordance with the turns ratio and the primary DC voltage to achieve a desired output voltage.

Systems and methods for waking up a battery system (e.g., battery pack such as a smart battery pack) installed in an information handling system from a shipping mode in response to the occurrence of one of at least two detected events. The first of these of these at least two events is detection of the battery system being removed and reinstalled into operational electrical contact with the information handling system, and the second of these at least two events is the activation of a user input device provided for the battery system.
