A coin selection apparatus comprises a plurality of detection coils and an oscillation circuit which detects changes of impedances of the detection coils caused when a coin pass through the detection coils, as a change of a voltage output. The plurality of detection coils include at least two sets of detection coils each including two detection coils opposingly arranged to the coin path. One set of detection coils has its two coils connected in series and in phase and the other set of detection coil has its two coils connected in series and in phase opposition. The two sets of coils are arranged at a spacing along the coin path smaller than a minimum diameter of a coin to be selected and all of the coils are connected in series and connected as a resonance element of the oscillation circuit. Thus, material, thickness and diameter and other appearance characteristic of the coin are detected based on the voltage output of the oscillation circuit. Accordingly, the coin selection apparatus is of simple construction and has a small number of components.

A channel selection mechanism for an electronic tuner of a television receiver comprises a motor-driven shaft, a voltage selection rotary switch with the contact arm mounted on the shaft, a channel number indicating drum mounted on the shaft for rotation with the rotary switch, a cam wheel having notches on the periphery thereof and mounted on the shaft for rotation with the rotary switch and the drum, and a cam follower pivoted at one end to engage the working surface of the cam wheel to provide swivel movements. The motor is energized by a motor start switch which is operated until a desired channel is reached. A motor stop switch is provided to operate in response to the swivel movements of the cam follower to deenergize the motor to precisely align the channel indicating number to a window provided in the receiver housing.

Channel selection mechanism for an electronic tuner

This invention relates to a VHF-UHF switching mechanism of a television receiver provided with VHF and UHF tuners, and provides a VHF-UHF switching mechanism with a simple structure capable of selecting VHF and UHF channels by means of one main operation shaft.
