In examples, an apparatus includes a transistor, a switch, a diode, a capacitor, a voltage divider, a second transistor, a resistor, and a controller. The transistor has a transistor drain, a transistor source, and a transistor gate. The switch is adapted to couple a power supply to the transistor drain through an inductor. The diode has a cathode and an anode, the diode cathode coupled to the transistor drain. The capacitor is coupled between the diode anode and ground. The voltage divider is coupled between the diode anode and ground and having a voltage divider output. The second transistor has a second transistor source and a second transistor gate. The resistor is coupled between the diode anode and the second transistor source. The controller is coupled to the transistor gate, the transistor source, the voltage divider output, the diode anode, the second transistor gate, and the second transistor source.

Single power phase buck and boost converters

A circuit includes a driver circuit having a high side switch device and a low side switch device coupled to a load voltage node and a motor winding output. A controller operates the high side switch device and the low side switch device. The controller operates in a normal mode to supply current to the motor winding output for driving a motor winding when an external power supply is available to supply the load voltage node. In response to detecting a loss of the external power supply, the controller operates the high side switch device and the low side switch device in a boost mode to utilize a back electromotive force (BEMF) voltage from the motor winding to supply current to the load voltage node.

Configuration, frequency registers generating power from motor in supply-loss event

A controller for a voltage regulator includes a hysteretic circuit that generates a hysteretic voltage output as a function of a regulated voltage and that generates a hysteretic current output as a function of an inductor current. A switch control circuit provides a quasi-continuous control output as a function of the hysteretic current output from a start time when the regulated voltage rises above a higher hysteretic voltage until a stop time when the regulated voltage falls below a lower hysteretic voltage.

Quasi-continuous voltage regulator and controller

A controller includes a hysteretic circuit that provides a first ON level pulse when a corresponding first negative regulated voltage rises above a respective first voltage threshold. Similarly, a second ON level pulse is provided when a corresponding second positive regulated voltage falls below a respective second voltage threshold. The hysteretic circuit provides an OFF level pulse when one of first and second switch currents increases above a current threshold. A switch control circuit receives the first and second ON level pulses and the OFF level pulse, and provides first and second switch control outputs to separately regulate the first and second regulated voltages.

Quasi-continuous voltage regulator with dual polarity outputs

The system includes a switching system comprising at least one switch and an inductor, the switching system being configured to provide an output voltage based on a current through the inductor. The system also includes a switch driver configured to provide a switching signal to the switching system to control the operation of the at least one switch to provide the current through the at least one inductor. A mode controller is configured to switch the switch driver between a continuous mode of operation and a discontinuous mode of operation based on both a feedback voltage associated with the output voltage and at least one other predetermined operating condition associated with each of the continuous and discontinuous modes of operation.

Combination continuous and discontinuous control of a power regulator

Switched power supply with voltage regulator having PWM with hysteretic loop controller and method for operating and using same

An imaging system for achieving enhanced image detail includes a sensor subsystem, an electronic image processing subsystem, and an automatic gain control (AGC) unit. The sensor unit is operative for sensing an image received from an exterior environment and for converting the image to an electrical representation having a peak value that is related to the dynamic range of the image. The electrical representation is then processed in the electronic image processing subsystem using a unique multiple order, non-linear transfer function that processes the signal in a manner that is dependent upon the dynamic range of the input image. The output signal of the electronic image processing subsystem is then applied to the AGC unit which performs a conventional AGC function on the signal. Thus, the imaging system automatically adjusts to changing scene content in the input image in a dynamic manner.
