An article of footwear has an upper, an outsole and a midsole. The outsole has upper and lower surfaces. The midsole has a midsole lower surface that contacts the upper surface of the outsole. The midsole has at least one cavity located in a heel or a forefoot portion, which cavity opens to a midsole upper surface. A cushion is located in the cavity. The cushion includes resilient balls located in a resilient matrix material. The balls have a first durometer and the matrix material has a second durometer that is different than the first durometer. The midsole has a lower cavity in the lower surface of the midsole, which lower cavity is aligned with an opening in the outsole. Balls are located in the lower cavity. A retainer keeps the balls in the lower cavity and provides a visual indication of the balls in the lower cavity.

Cushioning for shoe sole

A footbed comprises a cushion comprising a heel portion, a forefoot portion, and a lower surface. The heel and forefoot portions each comprise resilient balls located in a resilient matrix material. The balls have a first hardness measure, and the matrix material has a second hardness measure that is different than the first hardness measure. The balls in the forefoot portion are of a first diameter and the balls in the heel portion are of a second diameter, the first diameter being smaller than the second diameter. The heel portion is separated from the forefoot portion by a midfoot portion. Each of the balls in the cushion may be interconnected with adjacent respective balls by spacing pins, the spacing pins creating gaps between adjacent respective balls, the matrix material being located in the gaps. The matrix material substantially surrounds each of the balls in the cushion.

Footbed for footwear

An adjustable shoe includes an adjustable upper with independent components which can be adjusted longitudinally, laterally, and vertically to accommodate foot size variations including swollen or asymmetrical feet. In some embodiments, an adjustable upper includes at least one connecting member which may be arranged to selectively adjust at least one of an independent toe portion, side panel, and heel portion.

Adjustable footwear

An athletic glove having an enhanced flexibility features for assisting in the opening and closing of the glove. A glove can include a front ply forming a palm and front portion and a back ply forming a back portion. The peripheries of the front and back plies attached together to form the glove. The glove includes a thumb stall, at least on finger stall, a hand receiving opening, a heel portion of the front ply, and a web portion positioned between the thumb stall and the finger stall. The glove further includes at least one predefined fold in the palm, such that the fold increases the flexibility of the glove and thereby facilitates the opening and closing of the glove. The glove can also comprise a notch formed in the back ply between the finger stall and the hand receiving opening to further increase the flexibility of the glove. Other embodiments are also claimed and described.

A shoe including an upper; a bottom located below the upper and facing the ground; and a flexible plate having an upper surface, a lower surface, and an interior portion and peripheral portions is disclosed. The flexible plate is positioned between at least a portion of the bottom and at least a portion of the upper. The peripheral portions are restrained from movement in a substantially vertical direction relative to the interior portion, so that the interior portion is capable of being deflected relative to the peripheral portions in a substantially vertical direction. The flexible plate has a width that is greater than one-half the width of the upper. At least one opening is in the bottom of the shoe. The lower surface of the flexible plate is in air communication with the outside of the shoe through the at least one opening in the bottom of the shoe.

Footwear toe cap

A shoe including a heel support integrally formed of a material different from the midsole material of a rear sole for supporting the foot of a user. The heel support includes a wall along at least one of the medial side of the shoe, the lateral side of the shoe and the rear of the shoe that extends vertically at least in part and includes at least one window through which at least a portion of the midsole material of the rear sole is exposed to and visible from outside the shoe.
