An inkjet recording medium having a recording layer including a pigment and a polyvinyl alcohol on an air-permeable support, wherein inkjet recording medium is made by coating a treatment solution on the recording layer, wherein the treatment solution has the action of solidifying the polyvinyl alcohol in the recording layer when it is in the wet state, and then bringing the recording layer into pressure contact with a heated mirror surface while it is still wet. This treatment solution is a mixed solution of borate/boric acid, wherein the blending ratio of the borate and boric acid in the treatment solution is 0.25/1 to 2/1 by weight ratio.

Ink-jet recording medium

Provided is an ink jet recording paper having an ink receiving layer comprising a high absorption pigment and a binder provided on at least one side of a base paper comprising wood pulp and a filler, with the ink receiving layer having a coverage rate of from 0.5 to 5.0 g/m.sup.2 per side of the base paper and a contact angle of from 80 to 100 degrees measured using a liquid having a surface tension of 40 dyne/cm.

Provided are a both-sided recording paper for ink jet recording which has coated layers comprising a pigment and a water-base binder on both sides of a base paper made from pulp slurry comprising a filler and an internal sizing agent; with the coated layers having a per side coverage of from 0.5 to 4.0 g/m.sup.2, on a solids basis, and with the base paper having a basis weight of from 50 to 180 g/m.sup.2, a total filler content within the range of 3 to 20 weight %, and a difference in filler content between surface layers extending to 30 .mu.m below the front and rear surfaces of the base paper respectively within the range of 0 to 30% of the average value of filler contents in the surface layers: and a method of preparing the aforementioned both-sided recording paper.

A recording paper having a recording layer comprising synthetic silica and an aqueous binder as its principal components, said layer being formed on at least one surface of a base paper and the amount of said layer lying within the range of 0.5-4.0 g/m.sup.2 in terms of solids on each surface on which said layer is formed, wherein either the critical surface tension of said recording layer surface (.gamma..sub.c) lies within the limits 32.ltoreq..gamma..sub.c.ltoreq. 42 dyne/cm or the contact angle measured using water lies in the range of 100.degree.-120.degree., or alternatively, the critical surface tension of said recording layer surface (.gamma..sub.c) lies within the limits 32.ltoreq..gamma..sub.c.ltoreq. 42 dyne/cm and the contact angle measured using water lies in the range of 100.degree.-120.degree. is disclosed.
