A turbocharger includes a turbine wheel, a turbine housing, a bearing housing, a compressor housing, a seal plate, a variable nozzle mechanism, a penetrating shaft, and a spring member. The variable nozzle mechanism is located within the turbine housing, and adjusts the amount of exhaust gas that flows toward the turbine wheel. The penetrating shaft extends through the bearing housing and is connected to the variable nozzle mechanism. The spring member pushes out the penetrating shaft toward the compressor housing. The bearing housing and the seal plate define a cooling chamber through which coolant flows. The spring member is located in the cooling chamber.

Turbocharger

A variable nozzle unit includes a first plate, a second plate, a plurality of nozzle vanes each having a rotary shaft portion and a vane, a plurality of vane arms, and a unison ring. Each vane arm includes an engaging portion. The plurality of vane arms includes at least one extension arm. The extension arm includes an extension portion that has a shape extending from the engaging portion toward the second plate. The second plate has a receiving portion that receives the extension portion. The receiving portion includes a pair of contact walls, wherein the contact walls are brought into contact with the extension portion respectively at a position where each of the nozzle vanes maximizes the flow passage area of the exhaust air passage and at a position where the nozzle vane minimizes the flow passage area of the exhaust air passage.

Variable nozzle unit

A turbocharger includes a compressor housing, a turbine housing, a bearing housing, a variable nozzle unit, and a fixing member. The variable nozzle unit includes a first plate, a second plate, a plurality of nozzle vanes, and an attitude changing mechanism. The fixing member includes an engagement portion that is engaged with at least one of the first plate and the second plate, a through shaft portion shaped to extend through the bearing housing toward the compressor housing, and a fixing portion that fixes an end portion of the through shaft portion on the compressor housing side to the hearing housing.

A turbocharger includes: a shaft connecting a compressor wheel and a turbine wheel; a thrust collar rotating together with the shaft; a thrust bearing holding the thrust collar for rotation; and a bearing housing holding the thrust bearing, wherein the bearing housing includes: an oil supply passage for supplying oil for lubrication to the thrust bearing; an oil discharge passage from which the oil supplied to the thrust bearing is discharged; a wall portion facing the thrust collar; and a groove portion formed in the wall portion and extending from the thrust collar toward a discharge port of the oil discharge passage.

A vehicle forced-induction device includes a first exhaust turbine type forced-induction unit and a second exhaust turbine type forced-induction unit. The first forced-induction unit includes an outlet pipe. The outlet pipe includes a first tubular portion and an annular first flange. The second forced-induction unit includes an inlet pipe. The inlet pipe includes a second tubular portion and an annular second flange. The forced-induction device includes a fastener that includes an annular groove. The annular groove has a shape in which a width of the annular groove decreases toward a groove bottom. The fastener is wound around the first and second flanges along a circumference of the first and the second flanges, thereby housing the first and second flanges in the annular groove. The fastener fastens the first and second flanges to urge the first and second flanges toward each other.

Forced-induction device for vehicle

A turbocharger includes a cooling passage. The cooling passage is arranged along a diffuser surface, which faces a diffuser passage in a compressor housing member. The compressor housing member is constituted by combining a first piece, a second piece, and a third piece, which are produced by die casting or the like. The cooling passage is defined by assembling the first piece and the second piece to each other.

A circular ring-shaped shroud plate is arranged between a scroll passage and a turbine chamber. The shroud plate has a through-hole that penetrates therethrough in a direction along an axis of a turbine shaft. A variable nozzle is supported in an openable/closable manner on the shroud plate by a shaft inserted through the through-hole. A gap between the shroud plate and a turbine housing in the direction along the axis is partitioned into a first space that communicates with an outlet of exhaust gas that faces the through-hole and is provided upstream of a turbine wheel with respect to the flow of exhaust gas, and a second space that communicates with the scroll passage, by a disc spring that is so arranged as to surround the turbine wheel.

A forced induction apparatus for an engine includes a first forced induction device including a first bearing and a first oil passage that passes by the first bearing and a second forced induction device including a second bearing, a second oil passage that passes by the second bearing, and a drain passage that is in communication with the first oil passage. The second forced induction device is located below the first forced induction device, and the drain passage receives oil from the first oil passage and discharges the oil out of the second forced induction device.

Forced induction apparatus for engine

A turbocharger includes a cooling passage. The cooling passage extends along a diffuser surface. Fluid for cooling the diffuser surface flows through the cooling passage. The turbocharger includes a water jacket, which is arranged at a connection portion between a blow-by gas recirculation passage and an intake passage. Coolant for warming blow-by gas flows through the water jacket. The cooling passage communicates with the water jacket. Coolant that has been drawn into the cooling passage flows through the water jacket after flowing through the cooling passage.

Embodiments of the present invention may include a turbocharger having a turbine, a turbine housing, a variable valve, a first plate, a second plate and a heat shield member. The turbine housing accommodates the turbine and has a flow path. The variable valve rotates about each pivot member provided thereon, thereby adjusting the flow velocity of fluid guided from the flow path to the turbine. The first plate supports one end of each pivot member, and defines the flow path. The second plate supports the other end of each pivot member or the variable valves, and defines the flow path. The heat shield member covers a wall surface of the turbine housing, and defines the flow path.

Turbochargers

Embodiments of the present invention may include a variable nozzle turbocharger having a variable nozzle mechanism for controlling a flow velocity of exhaust gas to a turbine wheel. The variable nozzle mechanism includes a plurality of variable nozzles, a unison ring and a biasing member. The variable nozzles each have a nozzle vane. The unison ring is configured to adjust a degree of opening of the variable nozzles through rotation of the unison ring. The biasing member biases the unison ring so as to open the variable nozzles.

Variable nozzle turbochargers

Embodiments of the present invention may include a variable nozzle turbocharger having a variable nozzle mechanism. The variable nozzle mechanism has a unison ring and a drive arm. The unison ring adjusts a degree of opening of variable nozzles having nozzle vanes through rotation of the unison ring. The unison ring has a first fit-engagement groove. The first fit-engagement groove has a closing side surface of a concave arcuate shape and an opening side surface of a convex arcuate shape facing the closing side surface with a fixed groove width therebetween. A drive arm has a first fit-engagement portion engaged with the first fit-engagement groove so that the first fit-engagement portion is rotatable and movable in the radial direction of the unison ring. The first fit-engagement portion has a closing side contact surface of a convex arcuate shape that is able to contact the closing side surface.

A turbocharger is provided with a rotor shaft and a semi-floating bearing arranged in a bearing chamber and rotatably supporting the rotor shaft. The semi-floating bearing has a pair of bearing portions located at two longitudinal ends. A region between the pair of bearing portions in an outer peripheral surface of the semi-floating bearing and an inner peripheral surface of the bearing chamber constitute an outside oil feed chamber to supply a lubricant oil to outer peripheral surfaces of the pair of bearing portions. A groove extending in a circumferential direction is formed in the outer peripheral surface of at least one of the bearing portions. An oil feed passage to supply the lubricant oil to the outside oil feed chamber and a discharge passage opposed to the groove and configured to discharge the lubricant oil in the groove downward are formed in the bearing housing.

Bearing structure of turbocharger

A flow rate adjustment method for a variable geometry turbocharger may include steps as follows. An adjustment apparatus drives an actuator to an abutment position where a power transmission member abuts a stopper. The apparatus acquires the abutment position opening amount based on an opening detection sensor's signal. The apparatus drives the actuator until the detection amount attains a pre-set amount, moving the power transmission member to a temporary control position. The apparatus acquires a temporary control position flow rate. It is acquired when an adjustment gas inflow apparatus causes the adjustment gas to flow into an exhaust turbine, and a flow rate measurement sensor measures the flow rate of the adjustment gas. The apparatus obtains a correction amount based on a difference between the temporary control position flow rate and a real control position flow rate, which is a proper flow rate corresponding to the pre-set amount.

Variable geometry turbocharger and flow rate adjustment method for the same

A turbocharger is provided with a bearing housing having a housing body supporting a rotor shaft in a rotatable state and having a bearing hole formed therein. An oil jacket is formed in the lower half portion of the housing body. A water jacket is formed in the upper half portion of the housing body, without protruding into the lower half portion.
