Endoscopic instruments

A surgical instrument can be disinfected or sterilized, and has a rechargeable secondary battery incorporated therein. A distal treatment section of the surgical instrument is ultrasonically oscillated or otherwise activated using the secondary battery as a driving power source to perform surgery on a living tissue. Electromagnetic energy generated by an energy generation unit located outside the surgical instrument is received by a reception coil incorporated in the surgical instrument with the surgical instrument by induction from the energy generation unit. The electromagnetic energy is then converted into charging power with which the secondary battery is recharged. Thus, the surgical instrument can be readily recharged without compromising sterility.

An elongate injection needle is passed through an applicator. When the needle is inserted into any desired insertion position, it is fixed to the applicator by means of an instrument fixing member of a handle section. In this state, the shape of a bendable portion on the distal end side of an insert section can be easily changed by turning one of two knobs of the handle section to bend the bendable portion.

When heated, the pin is softened and deformed, whereby the first and second supports are secured to each other, fastening together the opposing portions of the body organ.

A tool for manipulating tissue includes a penetration needle adapted to be stuck into a body cavity of a patient. A pulling device is insertable into a hollow portion of the penetration needle so as to be positioned in the body cavity of the patient when the penetration needle is stuck therein. The pulling device is adapted to pull tissue in the body cavity and the penetration needle is adapted to be removed from the body cavity after the pulling device is positioned therein. A manipulating device having a hollow portion through which the pulling device can be passed is adapted to be guided over the pulling device to be inserted into the body cavity of the patient after the penetration needle is removed therefrom. The manipulating device is adapted to be positionally fixed relative to the pulling device and to be operable together with the pulling device to move the pulled tissue in a desired direction and to hold the pulled tissue at a desired position.

The stapling member includes an anvil and a cartridge between which the tissues are sandwiched, and a cutter. Staples are applied to the anvil from the cartridge for stapling the tissues and the cutter cuts the tissue while it applies a high-frequency current thereto.

A trocar comprises an obturator having a piercing tip, and a cannula for forming a passage in tissue that is punched by the piercing tip. The cannula is formed from a flexible tube or a coil tube and transforms and libitum in accordance with the shape of the surgical tool that is to be inserted into the body cavity through the cannula.
