In a support structure of a drive shaft in which a power transmission mechanism transmitting the power of a power source and a driving wheel are fixed to a drive shaft rotatably supported by a support portion provided in a vehicle, a female screw portion is formed in the inner peripheral surface of a hollow portion formed at an end portion of the drive shaft. The power transmission mechanism is fixed to the drive shaft by fastening a bolt screwed with the female screw portion. A step portion is provided between a small-diameter portion and a large-diameter portion formed on the outer peripheral surface of the drive shaft. The position in the axial direction of the power transmission mechanism fixed to the small-diameter portion side is regulated by the step portion.

Support structure of drive shaft

A bending load acting on a steering shaft only with a magnetostrictive torque sensor, without separately providing a sensor for detecting the bending moment. A storage unit stores, as an initial characteristic curve formed from initial detection values, a characteristic curve formed from detection values of each of a first detection coil and a second detection coil when only twisting torque is applied to a steering shaft. A bending load detector provided in an ECU detects a bending load amount acting on the steering shaft based on a difference between each detection value of the first and second detection coils and the initial detection value on the initial characteristic curve corresponding to the detection value.

A system for performing posture control of a motorcycle is such that in outputting a synthesized output by adjusting a yaw direction output and a roll direction output outputted from a displacement detection sensor by an adjustment part respectively, a synthesized output in which the yaw direction output is larger than the roll direction output is outputted when a vehicle speed is low, and a synthesized output in which the roll direction output is larger than the yaw direction output is outputted when the vehicle speed is high. Accordingly, in either a case where the vehicle is traveling at a low speed or a case where the vehicle is traveling at a high speed, the displacement and the behavior of a motorcyclecan be detected with high accuracy thus eventually realizing a control of the posture of the motorcyclewith high accuracy.

An electric power steering apparatus includes a steering shaft for transmitting a steering force of a steering handlebar to a wheel and an upper bearing provided at a location upward from a vehicle body frame so as to rotatably support an upper part of the steering shaft. A lower bearing is provided at a location downward from the vehicle body frame, so as to rotatably support a lower part of the steering shaft. A torque sensor detects a torsional torque applied to the steering shaft. An electric motor imparts a steering force to the steering shaft based on the torsional torque detected by the torque sensor. The electric motor is mounted to the steering shaft between the upper bearing and the lower bearing, while the torque sensor is mounted to the steering shaft at place upward from the upper bearing.

The axial center of the upper end support portion of a rear cushion is swingably supported by the upper arm at a position forward of the axial center of the support portion. The axial center of the lower support portion of the rear cushion can swingably be supported by the lower arm at a position rearward of the axial center of the support portion swingably supporting the lower arm and the body frame with respect to the vehicle.
