An image forming apparatus includes a paper storage part; weight sensors for measuring the weight of paper stored in the paper storage part; a paper feed counting part for counting the number of sheets fed from the paper storage part; a memory unit for storing the weight A applied to the weight sensors, exclusive of the weight of paper, the weight B of standard paper, and the set number C of sheets for checking that specifies the intervals at which the remaining quantity of paper is to be checked; a control panel; and a CPU. The CPU accurately calculates the actual weight of each sheet of paper from a change in paper weight per feed of the set number C of sheets for checking.

An image reading-out apparatus provided at least with a document table made of a transparent material that passes an image reading light beam and having a flat surface on which a document can be set and a cover that presses the document set on the document table and prevents the image reading light beam from leakage includes a display/edition unit. The display/edition unit has a display section having a large area for displaying an image that has been read-out via the image reading light beam and an edition-operation menu for the image, a command entering section for entering an edition operation command by a touch to the read-out image displayed on the display unit, and a control section that controls displaying of the read-out image and the edition operation command and entering of the edition operation command by a touch. The display/edition unit is provided at a position so as not to obstruct the cover from depressing the document and preventing the image reading light beam from leakage.

Image reading-out apparatus

A belt conveyor includes a driving roller, a driven roller, a conveyor belt wound around the driving roller and driven roller to run endlessly by rotation of the driving roller, and a pair of regulation members arranged adjacent to both the ends of the axial direction of the driving roller to regulate movement of the conveyor belt in the axial direction of the driving roller. The conveyor belt has a conveying portion which conveys an image receiving medium and a returning portion which returns from an ending position of the conveying portion to a starting position of the conveying portion. The pair of regulation members each have a regulating surface that is arranged at a position able to contact a side edge of the conveyor belt at only the returning portion side of the conveyor belt below a middle position between the conveying portion and the returning position where the conveyor belt winds around the driving roller.

An image forming apparatus is provided with an electrostatic charging unit, an exposure unit, a developing unit, a feeding unit, a transfer unit, a peeling-off unit, a fixing device and also a cooling mechanism used when taking out a jamming sheet in the fixing device. The fixing device consists of a fixing unit having fixing rollers and discharge guide unit for discharging a sheet after fixed by the fixing unit. The cooling mechanism, such as, a cooling fan or a refrigerant cooling unit, is provided at the discharge guide, to cool the jamming sheet that has caused jamming only in the fixing unit and discharged therefrom. Time for cooling the jamming sheet may be controlled by a user manual operation or for a predetermined period within a recovery allowable time, so as not to cool the fixing rollers, which would otherwise cause a long recovery time. Or, the cooling mechanism may start a cooling operation after detecting that a door provided at the front of the image forming apparatus has been opened for taking out the jamming sheet.

Fixing device used for image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus is provided with a table unit which can be taken out to a front side in a state of opening a front cover of a main body. A transfer belt unit integrally constituted by a transfer belt, a drive roller, a driven roller, a transfer roller and the like is detachably set on the table unit. In the case of setting the transfer belt unit to the apparatus main body, the transfer belt unit is set on the table unit, the table unit is inserted into the apparatus main body, and the transfer belt unit is lifted up by rotating a handle so as to be brought into contact with the process unit. Accordingly, it is possible to easily attach and detach the transfer belt unit with respect to the apparatus main body, thereby simplifying a replacing operation.

Transfer belt unit

A color copying machine includes four image forming sections that are arranged side by side. A conveyor mechanism for conveying a recording sheet is provided under the image forming sections. Located on the downstream side of the conveyor mechanism is a fixing unit for heating the recording sheet, having a transferred toner image thereon, thereby fixing the toner image. A driving roller of the conveyor mechanism, which is located close to the fixing unit, is formed of Nobinite with a low thermal expansion coefficient. Thus, although the driving roller is subjected to thermal expansion by heat from the fixing unit, the traveling speed of a conveyor belt of the conveyor mechanism cannot be changed, so that an output image can be prevented from suffering shifts.

Color image forming apparatus with belt conveyor system

A belt conveyor system has a rotatable first roller and a second roller tapered toward a first end thereof and located substantially parallel to and at a distance from the first roller. The system also has a conveyor belt passed around and stretched between the first and second rollers for endless traveling. The system further includes a regulating member located at a position close to a first end of the first roller, opposite the first end of the second roller. The regulating member is in sliding contact with an end side of the conveyor belt only in a region where the conveyor belt is in contact with the first roller.

An image forming apparatus according to the present invention is equipped with a conveyor belt that is arranged between a driving roller and a driven roller, and a regulating member that is arranged in parallel at the end of at least one of the driving roller and the driven roller. The regulating member includes a first regulation surface that makes the end edge of the conveyor belt contact and slide in horizontal direction when the conveyor belt runs and regulates the snaking of the conveyor belt, and a second regulation surface that protrudes from the first regulation surface so as to regulate the movement of the end edge of the conveyor belt in vertical direction.
