A method for managing a casting process based on measured properties of molding sand is provided so that casting defects or energy used can be reduced by changing the molding conditions for the mold to be produced or changing the steps after molding. The method for managing a casting process based on the properties of the molding sand includes a step () of measuring the properties of the molding sand just before the molding sand is supplied to a molding machine () and a step () of determining if the measured properties of the molding sand comply with predetermined properties so as to then switch between a step of molding a mold when the measured properties do comply with the predetermined properties and a step of molding a mold when the measured properties do not comply with the predetermined properties.

Method for managing casting process based on properties of molding sand

A molding machine that defines upper and lower mold cavities while cope and drag flasks, having a match plate sandwiched therebetween, are rotated from a horizontal position to a vertical position. An upper squeeze member is insertable into the cope flask. A pressure-applying plane of the upper squeeze member defines an upper mold cavity together with the match plate and the cope flask. A pivoting frame supports the cope and drag flasks, having a match plate sandwiched therebetween, and the upper squeeze member, such that they rotate in unison between a horizontal position to a vertical position. A fixed filling frame abuts the drag flask when the cope and drag flasks are in the vertical position. A lower squeeze member has a pressure-applying plane that is oriented horizontally. The pressure-applying plane of the lower squeeze member defines a lower mold cavity together with the match plate, the drag flask, and the filling frame.

Molding machine

The disclosed invention provides a molding machine that defines upper and lower molding spaces while cope and drag flasksand a match plateclamped therebetween are rotated from a horizontal position to a vertical position, and that readily places a core into a lower mold within the drag flask. An upper squeeze memberis insertable into the cope flaskwith its pressure-applying plane being opposed to the upper face of the match plate. The pressure-applying plane defines an upper molding space together with the upper face of the match plateand the cope flask. A pivoting framesupports the cope and drag flasks, a match plateclamped therebetween, and the upper squeeze member, such that they rotate in unison between a horizontal position, in which the pressure-applying plane of the upper squeeze memberis oriented vertically downward, to a vertical position in which the pressure-applying plane is oriented horizontally. A fixed, vertical, filling frame abuts the drag flaskwhen the flasksand the match platethat is clamped therebetween are in the vertical position. A lower squeeze memberhas a pressure-applying plane that is oriented horizontally, and is insertable into the filling frame and the abutting drag flask. The pressure-applying plane of the lower squeeze memberdefines a lower molding space together with the lower face of the match plate, the drag flask, and the filling frame. To place a core into a lower mold within the drag flask, the drag flaskis laterally moved from a position that is immediately beneath the cope flasksuch that an open working space is provided.

Flaskless molding machine

A method of controlling the operation of an apparatus for making an upper and a lower mold and the apparatus therefore that prevents a mold from having a wrap or a match plate from being damaged. The apparatus controls the forward movement of an upper and a lower squeeze member such that when each moves forward to the match plate by a squeeze device, the difference in the squeeze forces imparted to the upper squeeze member and the squeeze force imparted to the lower squeeze member, is kept within the predetermined tolerance.

A hydraulic power unitof a match-plate molding machine comprises a hydraulic pumpfor supplying oil, a piping system, andthat fluidly communicates with first and second hydraulic cylinder systemsandfor supplying the oil from the hydraulic pumpto them to perform a squeeze step, an accumulatorthat is provided within the piping system, first and second electromagnetic directional control valvesandfor controlling the flow of the oil from the hydraulic pumpto the first and second hydraulic cylinder systemsand, first and second pressure sensorsandfor measuring pressures of the oil of the first and second hydraulic cylinder systemsand, and for generating output signals that correspond to the measured value, and a controllerfor receiving the output signals from the first and second pressure sensorsand, and for controlling the turns of the first and second electromagnetic directional control valvesandbased on the output signals and the predetermined value within a range below the pressure holding the accumulatoragainst the oil.

A monitor system for monitoring a molding machine that includes a vertically-movable supporting frame, a pattern carrier on which a pattern is placed, a flask placed on a leveling frame, a sand hopper provided with an optional an air-jet chamber, sand-charging nozzles disposed around a plurality of squeeze feet that is disposed at a lower end of the sand hopper, and a filling frame connected to filling-frame cylinders and surrounding the squeeze feet and the sand-charging nozzles from their outside, the filling frame to be placed on the flask when lowered, comprising at least one sensor connected to the molding machine, for detecting an attribute of the molding sand as required and data analyzing monitor means connected to the sensor, for receiving data that correspond to the attribute detected by the sensor and analyzing the attribute and displaying the results of the analysis.

A method for compacting molding sand in a mold space defined by a pattern plate, which is fixed in a horizontal position when the molding sand is compacted, a leveling frame disposed for vertical sliding movement around the outer periphery of the pattern plate, a frame member disposed for vertical movement above the leveling frame, and a filling frame disposed for vertical movement above the frame member. The method comprises the steps of feeding molding sand into the mold space, primarily compacting the molding sand in the mold space from above by compacting means while at least the leveling frame is being set so that it cannot be lowered, and secondarily compacting the molding sand in the mold space from above by the compacting means while the leveling frame, the frame member, and the filling frame are set so that these elements can be lowered.
