In an electrical connector, in a state in which an abutting portion of a support is abutted against a receiving face of a retainer or an inflator housing, if the connector housing is pressed toward the mating side and then released before being inserted into the retainer to a predetermined depth, then the connector housing is pressed back in the counter mating direction due to restoring force generated in the support. If the connector housing is pressed toward the mating side and inserted into the retainer to the predetermined depth, the abutting portion becomes displaced in the abutment cancelation direction so as to separate from the receiving face, and thus the connector housing is inserted into the retainer to the predetermined depth or more so as to be mated to the retainer, and electrical terminals become connected to squib terminals. Also, a squib connection device includes this electrical connector.

Electrical connector and squib connection device

A battery connector includes a housing, a contact, a lid housing, and a pair of rotor rods. The housing includes at a bottom portion a pair of slit apertures into which a positive electrode and a negative electrode can be inserted. At the contact, a pair of movable strips contacts opposing surfaces of the positive electrodes and the negative electrodes. The lid housing fits to the housing. The pair of the rotor rods is supported so as to be rotatable at and adjoining with or spaced from both end portions of the lid housing. The contact includes a guide strip provided with a pair of cam grooves of a V-shape at both end portions, and when the lid housing is inserted into the housing, the contact moves the pair of the rotor rods to be adjoining each other and presses the positive and negative electrodes to the pair of the movable strips.

Battery connector

A female terminal for connector is electrically connected to a pin, and the pin is electrically connected to a squib to ignite an airbag. The female terminal for connector includes a tubular external wall part and a spring part contacting the pin. A tip portion of the spring part is capable of swinging so as to deflect from a main body portion. The external wall part is formed into a shape having two curved portions disposed to face one another in a swinging direction so as to be outward convex in a radial cross section, and two joining portions to linearly joint ends of the two curved portions together, and the external wall part is formed such that an outside diameter in the swinging direction of the spring part is made larger than an outside diameter in a direction perpendicular to the swinging direction.

Connector and electrical connection device

A terminal for preventing incorrect insertion into a housing and a method of correctly inserting a terminal into a housing of a connection. The terminal includes a frame that is adapted to be received into a cavity in the housing and a wire operatively connected to the frame. A protrusion, which extends from the frame, includes a leading side, a top side, and a trailing side. The protrusion is configured to only allow a desired orientation of the terminal when inserted into the cavity. The frame and protrusion are formed from a single piece of sheet metal. The method includes orienting the terminal such that a protrusion disposed on the terminal is aligned with a slot formed in a cavity in the housing and inserting the terminal into the cavity in the housing such that the protrusion passes through the slot.

An electrical connector includes a housing, a lever, and a TPA member. The housing includes a front portion to receive terminals of a mating connector and a rear portion to receive a plurality of wiring harnesses. The housing also includes a TPA slot into which the TPA member is inserted. The lever include an interference portion and is disposed on the housing body so as to rotated within a range between a predetermined position and a final position, thereby functioning as an insertion-assist mechanism. The TPA member is to assure a proper position of the terminals of the wiring harnesses inserted, engaging with the terminals. When the TPA member is improperly inserted into the housing, the interference portion comes into interference with, in accordance with rotational movement of the lever, a portion of the TPA member that protrudes from the surface of the housing.

Electrical connector

A connector includes a housing and a terminal portion disposed on the housing. A tine plate has a first surface, an oppositely facing second surface, a plurality of through-holes passing from the first surface to the second surface, and at least one opening passing from the first surface to the second surface. A plurality of tines are disposed on the terminal portion. Each tine extends through a corresponding one of the through holes in a direction from the first surface toward the second surface. At least one protrusion is disposed on the housing, extending at least partially through the respective at least one opening in the direction from the first surface toward the second surface. The at least one protrusion engages the tine plate along a perimeter of the at least one opening at two or more contact points.

An electrical connector includes a housing and a terminal position assurance (TPA) member, which is inserted into the housing. The housing has a front receiving portion and a rear receiving portion, which receives a terminal of a wiring harness. The housing also has a base portion and a recess, which is formed by the base portion, disposed at a top, front portion thereof. Further, an incision is disposed adjacent to the base portion of the housing, thereby allowing an end portion of the base portion to be slightly moved. The TPA member has a protrusion disposed on a top thereof and configured to be fitted into the front receiving portion. The TPA member assures a position of the terminal of the wiring harness. The protrusion of the TPA member engages with the recess, and thereby the TPA is locked in the housing.

The connecting housing elementis connected to the to-be-connected housing elementby being fitted therewith.

Electrical connecting device

An electrical connecting device is described adapted to be connected to a mating housing element that supports mating terminals of at least four poles that are arranged in a parallel manner in rectilinear form. The device includes connection terminals of at least four poles adapted to be respectively electrically connected to the mating terminals. The connection terminals include terminal connecting parts for connection to the mating terminals, the terminal connecting parts being arranged along a terminal connecting direction, and wire connecting parts each connected at a first end thereof to a respective wire and at a second end thereof to a respective terminal connecting part so as to form a bent connection there between. Also included is a housing element which has terminal supporting parts for supporting each of the connection terminals in a manner where the terminal connecting parts are arranged in a parallel manner in rectilinear form corresponding to the mating terminals, and wire supporting parts for supporting each of the respective wires such that the wires are arranged in a direction parallel to the terminal connection direction, the connecting housing element being adapted to engage with the mating housing element.

Electrical connecting device for connecting to a mating device

An electrical connector includes a housing and a lever supported pivotally on a pivot disposed on the housing. The lever is configured to rotate on the pivot within a range from a pre-engagement position to a final engagement position. The lever includes a recess configured to accommodate a boss disposed on a mating connector therein in accordance with rotational movement of the lever. The lever also includes a locking mechanism having a detent to engage with an engaging portion disposed on the housing at the final engagement position. Further, the housing includes a movable stopper disposed on a surface thereof. The movable stopper engages with an edge portion of the lever at the pre-engagement position. When combined with the mating connector, the movable stopper primarily interferes with the boss, and is displaced so as to release the engagement with the edge portion of the lever. Thus, the engagement with the edge portion is released, and thereby the lever freely rotates on the pivot, while the boss is being fitted into the recess.

Electrical connector with a locking mechanism

An electrical connector includes a housing and a lever supported pivotally on at least one pivot disposed on the housing. The lever rotates on the pivot within a range from a pre-engagement position to a final engagement position. The lever also has a recess configured to fit a boss disposed on a mating connector therein in accordance with rotational movement of the lever. Further, the lever includes a connector locking portion disposed on a beam thereof. The connector locking portion includes a base portion extending downward from the beam, a flap portion supported by the base portion and extending in a direction substantially tangent to the rotational movement, and a detent disposed in proximity of a first free end of the flap portion such that the detent engages with an engaging portion disposed on the housing at the final engagement position.

An electric connector includes an insulative housing and a plurality of contacts having on one end a contact leg extending in the height direction and being adapted to be inserted in an insertion hole of a printed circuit board. A tine plate has its largest dimension between both edges in the width direction and has a plurality of through holes for the contact legs to be inserted therein. The insulative housing has bosses on the rear side in the depth direction near the bottom face of the insulative housing at a plurality of points in the width direction. The bosses protrude rearward in the depth direction or on one side in the height direction and are adapted to be fitted on the printed circuit board. The tine plate has a plurality of fitting-on parts adapted to be fitted respectively on the bosses so as to restrain deformation of the tine plate in the width direction.

An electrical connector includes a housing and a terminal position assurance member, which is inserted into the housing. The housing has a front receiving portion and a rear receiving portion, which receives a terminal of a wiring harness. The housing also has a recess disposed at a top, front portion thereof. The terminal position assurance member has a protrusion disposed on a top thereof and configured to be fitted into the front receiving portion. The terminal position assurance member assures a position of the terminal of the wiring harness. The protrusion of the terminal position assurance member engages with the recess, and thereby the terminal position assurance member is locked in the housing.
