A insulated electric wire having an insulating layer containing a fluororesin, the insulated electric wire having a high flexibility with the heat resistance of the fluororesin maintained. The insulated electric wire is obtained by covering a conductor with an insulating layer containing a copolymer of a monomer expressed by a Formula (1) and a monomer expressed by a Formula (2). It is preferable that a copolymerization ratio of the monomer expressed by Formula (2) in the copolymer is at least 10 mass %. Note that Rf represents a perfluoroalkyl group including one or more ether bonds in its structure.

Insulated electric wire

Provided is an insulated wire that is capable of reducing loads to the environment by containing a renewable biomass resource, and has excellent water resistance even if containing the biomass resource. The insulated wire includes a conductor, and an insulator that coats the perimeter of the conductor, wherein the insulator is made from a resin composition that contains a biodegradable resin having a repeating unit structure represented by the following general formula (1), and a repeating unit structure represented by the following general formula (2); wherein each of Rand Rrepresents an alkyl group having one or more carbon atoms, and each of a and b represents a natural number of one or more.

Insulated wire

A flame retardant that is arranged to improve the cold resistance and the productivity of a composition, a flame-retardant composition, an insulated wire, a wiring harness, and a method for manufacturing the flame-retardant composition. The flame retardant includes a pulverized natural mineral which is mainly composed of magnesium hydroxide, wherein the pulverized natural mineral is surface-treated with an organic high polymer such as polyolefin. The amount of surface treatment is within a range of 0.1 to 10 mass %. The flame-retardant composition includes 30 to 250 parts by mass of the flame retardant with respect to 100 parts by mass of an organic high polymer such as polyolefin. The insulated wire includes a conductor and the flame-retardant composition which covers the conductor, and the wiring harness includes the insulated wire.

Provided are a flame retardant, a flame-retardant resin composition and an insulated wire that have favorable low-temperature characteristics, excellent cold resistance and high productivity. The insulated wire includes a conductor that is insulation-coated with the flame-retardant resin composition that contains the flame retardant that contains magnesium hydroxide and a surface treatment agent with which the magnesium hydroxide is surface-treated, wherein the surface treatment agent has a degree of crystallization of 60% or more, and at least a base resin.

Flame retardant, flame-retardant resin composition, and insulated wire

Provided are a flame retardant, a flame-retardant resin composition and an insulated wire that have favorable low-temperature characteristics, excellent cold resistance and high productivity. The insulated wire includes a conductor that is insulation-coated with the flame-retardant resin composition that contains the flame retardant that contains magnesium hydroxide and a surface treatment agent with which the magnesium hydroxide is surface-treated, wherein the surface treatment agent has a weight-average molecular weight of 10000 or less, and at least a base resin.

A flame-retardant composition that is not colored during compounding and molding, and a covered electric wire using the same. The flame-retardant composition contains at least a matrix polymer such as an olefin resin, a phenolic antioxidant having tert-butyl groups in positions 2 and 6 of a hydroxyl group, and a flame retardant that is a pulverized natural mineral containing magnesium hydroxide as the main ingredient, and the iron oxide concentration in the flame retardant is 1000 ppm or less. The covered electric wire uses the flame-retardant composition as a covering material.

Flame-retardant composition, covered electric wire, and wiring harness

A flame-retardant composition and an insulated electric wire and a wiring harness using the flame-retardant composition. The flame-retardant composition includes a base resin that has a flexural modulus of 500 MPa or more and a Charpy impact strength at &#x2212;20&#xb0; C. of 1 KJ/mor more, and a flame retardant that is a pulverized natural mineral containing magnesium hydroxide as a main ingredient. The base resin preferably contains polypropylene as a main ingredient, and the content of the magnesium hydroxide is preferably 30 to 250 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the base resin. The insulated electric wire includes a conductor and the flame-retardant composition that covers the conductor. The wiring harness includes the insulated electric wire.

Flame-retardant composition, insulated electric wire, and wiring harness using the same

An insulated wire including a conductor, an inside coat of one or more layers arranged to cover the conductor, and an outside coat arranged to cover the outermost layer of the inside coat, wherein at least the layer of the inside coat which is in contact with the conductor is made from an olefin resin including a functional group, and the outside coatis made from a non-halogenous flame-retardant resin composition. The functional group is preferably one or more groups selected from a carboxylic acid group, an acid anhydrous group, an epoxy group, a hydroxyl group, an amino group, an alkenyl cyclic imino ether group, and a silane group.

Insulated wire and a wiring harness

An insulated wire possessing preferable flame retardancy, water resistance and wear resistance. The insulated wire including an insulator layer made from a composition including 96 to 44 parts by weight of (A) a polyester type resin, 4 to 56 parts by weight of (B) a polyphenylene ether type resin, 1 to 70 parts by weight of (C) one or more than one sort of polymer selected from the group consisting of a styrene type polymer, an olefin type polymer including a functional group, and a polymer including an ester group with respect to 100 parts by weight of (A) the polyester type resin and (B) the polyphenylene ether type resin, and 1 to 50 parts by weight of (D) a phosphoester compound with respect to 100 parts by weight of (A) the polyester type resin and (B) the polyphenylene ether type resin.

A process is provided for producing a plastic optical fiber by drawing while melting an optical fiber preform under heating. The optical fiber preform includes at least a core containing an organic polymer and a cladding layer disposed on the outer circumference of the core and containing an organic polymer. The drawing is conducted under a drawing tension of 10 g or more, and preferably under a drawing tension of 100 g or less, until winding-up of the optical fiber.

A process and an apparatus for producing a preform for plastic optical fiber having a refractive index distribution in which the refractive index is gradually decreased from the center of the preform toward the outer periphery thereof, by depositing a deposition layer comprising a polymer A (refractive index: N.sub.a) and a refractive index modifier having a refractive index different from that of the polymer A onto a surface of a rod member rotating about an axis thereof, by use of vapor-phase deposition based on a CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) process, or a coating process. A plastic optical fiber preform including deposition layers having a gradually decreasing refractive index distribution is formed by changing the mixing ratio between the polymer A and the refractive index modifier constituting the deposition layer.

A process for producing a preform for elastic optical fiber having a refractive index distribution in which the refractive index is gradually decreased from the center of the preform toward the outer periphery thereof, by depositing a deposition layer comprising a polymer A (refractive index: N.sub.a) and a refractive index modifier having a refractive index different from that of the polymer A onto an inner surface of a hollow cylindrical member rotating about an axis thereof, by use of vapor-phase deposition based on a CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) process, or a coating process. A plastic optical fiber preform comprising deposition layers having a gradually increasing refractive index distribution is formed by changing the mixing ratio between the polymer A and the refractive index modifier constituting the deposition layer.

A coated optical fiber unit having at least two coated optical fibers, each of which has a coloring layer as the outermost layer and which are coated together with a bundling coating layer, is disclosed. The bundling coating layer and the coloring layer are both treated to suppress their bonding, there by allowing the coloring layer to not be removed at the same time as the removal of the bundling coating layer. The releasing agent added to the bundling coating layer and the coloring layer does not swell the resins in the layers, or cause peeling of the protective coating layer from the optical fiber.
