A composite hydrogen storage alloy material includes a hydrogen storage alloy material and a surface material bonded to the surface of the hydrogen storage alloy material. The surface material has a potential energy between those of hydride of the hydrogen storage alloy and hydrogen gas and permits migration of hydrogen between the inside and outside of the hydrogen storage alloy material.

Composite hydrogen storage alloy material

A method of bonding two metallic members at least one of which is of a porous structure. The method comprises steps of using, as the brazing material, a metallic material containing an eutectic alloy which contains an element having a superior diffusion property to the porous metallic member or, alternatively, an alloy which can form the eutectic alloy, placing the brazing material between the metallic members, heating the brazing material and the metallic members to a temperature above the melting point of the brazing material, and cooling the metallic members and the brazing material.

A method for fixing an alloy powder molding at sintering composition by placing an alloy powder molding formed by rolling a mixture of an alloy powder and a synthetic resin-based pressure-sensitive adhesive composition on a metal base material by interposing a composition between the molding and the base material until the molding is sintered, in the case that the alloy powder molding is placed on the metal base material and sintered after keeping at 150.degree. to 400.degree. C. for at least 5 minutes under a non-oxidizing atmosphere, the composition comprising as a main component an acrylic copolymer which comprises about 80 to 99.5% by weight of alkyl (meth)acrylate having an average carbon atom number of 2 to 12 in the alkyl moiety and about 20 to 0.5% by weight of a polymerizable monomer having a functional group in the molecule or a mixture of 100 parts by weight of the copolymer and about 0.1 to 100 parts by weight of a resin which gives adhesive property, the composition having a 10 second shear creep compliance of about 0.1 to 30.times.10.sup.-6 cm.sup.2 /dyne at room temperature and at least about 30% by weight of non-volatile materials when heated at 300.degree. C. for 80 minutes under a non-oxidizing atmosphere.

Process for fixing alloy powder molding at sintering

A process for forming a sintered layer on a substrate of an iron-based material containing carbon. A sheet of powders of an alloy is prepared by mixing the powders with a solution of resin and rolling the mixture into a sheet. The sheet is then heated to a sintering temperature. In order to prevent carbon content in the substrate from diffusing to the powder sheet during the sintering process, a lamina is provided beneath the powder sheet for example by a metal plating, a metal oxide layer, an intermediate alloy powder sheet, a decarbonized layer.

A composition for fixing a metal powder molding at sintering, which is used, in the case of disposing a metal powder molding formed by rolling a mixture of a metal powder and a synthetic resin-based binder on a metal base material and sintering the metal powder molding in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, by interposing between the metal powder molding and the base material, comprising a thermosetting resin composition containing a thermosetting resin as the essential component, the amount of the residual carbon of which after the completion of sintering is at least about 0.5% by weight.

Composition for fixing metal powder molding at sintering

A method for sealing porous metals, which comprises applying powder of a eutectic alloy containing an element having a good diffusibility in a porous metal or powder of a mixture of metals capable of forming the eutectic alloy, to the surface of a porous metal member and heating the surface applied with the powder at a temperature higher than the eutectic temperature of the eutectic alloy to thereby cause the molten eutectic alloy to intrude into pores from the surface of the porous metal member, whereby the melting point of the molten alloy in the pores is promptly increased by diffusion of the element in the porous metal member to solidify the molten metal in the pores, sealing only pores present in the vicinity of the surface of the porous metal member.

Method for sealing porous metals

A valve-seat material ideal for valve seats for vehicle-engine exhaust valves with no cobalt contained therein, superior in general use, has superior wear-resistance in high-temperature oxidizing atmosphere, and can be used independently of types of fuel to be used in the non-lead gasoline, lead-contained gasoline, L.P.G. or the like. The recession amount of the valve is extremely decreased and the wear resistance is remarkably improved.

Hard-particle dispersion type sintered-alloy for valve seat use

Oil seal ring comprising a base body and a lip formed thereon. The base body is made of a relatively flexible iron based material such as a cast iron. The lip is made of a mixture of iron-based alloy and one or more carbides by melting and thereafter solidifying the mixture on the body. Composite carbides are produced in the alloy and added carbides are distributed in the metal and the composite carbides in the alloy.

Oil seal ring for rotary piston engines

A drilling bit for use in making a taphole in a blast furnace. The drilling bit has a bit head having a plurality of cutting tips radially arranged on and soldered to the bit head. Soldering of the tips to the bit head is carried out by the use of a soldering material of a particular composition containing 3 to 5% by weight of carbon, 0.5 to 3.0% by weight of silicon and the balance iron, the sum of the carbon content and the silicon content in the composition being at least 4% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition. Each of the tips which are to be soldered to the bit head by the use of the particular soldering material is made of either stellite or a super hard alloy.

Furnace taphole drilling bit

An abrasion-resistant sliding material is produced by forming a powdery mixture of (a) 70-98% of a eutectic alloy consisting of 0.2-3.0% of boron, 1.0-4.0% of carbon, with the balance being iron, the alloy having a particle size finer than 200 mesh and (b) 2-30% of a second eutectic alloy consisting of 3.0-7.0% phosphorus, 0.5-2.5% of carbon, with the balance being iron, this second alloy also having a particle size finer than 200 mesh, compression molding the resulting mixture into a desired shape at a pressure of 0.5-3.0 t/cm.sup.2, and sintering the resulting molded product at 950.degree.-1130.degree. C. for at least 5 minutes in an atmosphere of an inert gas (e.g., argon, nitrogen, hydrogen) or in a vacuum. The final product is characterized in that it has a porosity not exceeding 7.0%, a pore size not exceeding 50.mu. in diameter, with its structure including portions of iron compounds [Fe.sub.3 (B.C.)], portions where iron and iron compounds are copresent [Fe + Fe.sub.3 (B.P.C.)] and in which the P content is higher at the boundary areas than at the central areas, and portions of fine pores.

Abrasion-resistant sliding material

Sliding seal member for an internal combustion engine constituted by a sintered material comprising a compacted body of eutectic alloy particles and 4.0 to 6.0 weight percent of phosphor, 1.0 to 5.0 weight percent of carbon and the balance of iron, a suitable binding metal being infiltrated in the compacted body and the amount of the binder being 10 to 30 volume percent of the sealing member.
