A piercing nut according to the present invention includes an internal thread, a ring-shaped punching part, a ring-shaped groove, and a bearing surface. The internal threadis formed at the center of a nut main body. The ring-shaped punching partprotrudes around the outer periphery of the internal thread. The ring-shaped grooveis formed around the outer periphery of the ring-shaped punching part. The bearing surfaceprotrudes around the outer periphery of the ring-shaped groove. The height h of the ring-shaped punching partis equal to or lower than the height H of the bearing surfacein the opposite manner to the conventional technique.

Piercing nut and method for fixing the same to inner surface of mating member having closed sectional shape

A device for fixing a nut to an inner surface of a pipe member having a small inner diameter is provided. The device includes a unit box () to be inserted into the pipe member, a rotation shaft () extending from the unit box () to the outside of the pipe member, a cam fixed to the rotation shaft () in the unit box (), and a nut holder () that advances from the unit box () toward the inner surface of the pipe member by the rotation of the cam. A pressure receiving member to be abutted on the inner surface of the pipe member is provided on an opposite surface of the nut holder ().

To reduce the load required to press-fit a nut into a plate material, the nut includes a base partprovided with a female screw, a cylindrical protrusion partprotruding from one surface of the base part and a plurality of foot partsprotruding from an outer peripheral surface side of the protrusion part. The invention is directed to a method for caulking a caulking member such as a caulking nut or a caulking bolt to a metal plate. The metal plate is arranged on a die having a caulking protrusion formed on an end surface thereof, the caulking member is arranged on the metal plate while a position of a caulking recess portion of the caulking member is aligned with the caulking protrusion, and a punch is brought closer to the die so that the caulking member is pressed against the metal plate. While an upper surface of the metal plate in a position opposite to the caulking recess portion is restricted by a downward protruding portion of the punch or by the caulking member, the metal plate is plastically fluidized into the caulking recess portion, so that the caulking member is caulked without boring a hole in the metal plate.
